Parameswaran P's Review on Thiagarajar College of Engineering

• As per our Engineering curriculum, it is mandatory to have an internship during the final semester.
• This can be via Placement Cell or Assistance towards Prof. own PhD project or Inhouse Department Projects or student's own effort. Mostly placement cell finds to place student along with final semester internship. So some students would enter Corporate World during Final Year itself.
• Placement Cell provides placement assistance to find the best company for the students. Awesome statistics of around consistent 98% every year.
• Good amount of IT companies and equivalent Mech, Civil, EEE & ECE Core companies also visit the campus.
• The list is not listed on MICROSOFT, Amazon, THOUGHT WORKS, FLSmidth, Saint-Gobain, ZOHO, TVS, ATHENA HEALTHCARE, EMBED UR, TEMENOS, ARICENT, NS Instruments, Dalmia Cements, Renault-Nissan, TCS, CTS, Infosys, Wipro, etc.
• The average salary figure is Rs 3.5 lakhs per annum and the highest salary figure is Rs 15 lakhs per annum.
•  The placement percentage is 98%(differs every year depends on eligibility criteria, student interest, etc).

• Admission to all undergraduate courses ie. Bachelor's in Engineering (B.E.) are carried out through the single window system of the Anna University.
• Students can choose the courses based upon the state-wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of TamilNadu.
• Reservations are provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST etc as per the rules of the Government of TamilNadu.
• Reservations are also provided for Physically handicapped / Ex-Service men / Sportspersons / Other state candidates.
• Higher Secondary education(+2 grades).
• 196+(cut-off 200) should be fine. But this keeps on varying every year and depending on reservations(OC, BC, MBC, SC, ST).

• The course fee for Govt. Aided is INR 12500 and for Self Support, it is INR 37500.

• Each department has a tie-up with their own associations and society like IE, CSI, Cultural Club, Higher Studies Club, Skit Club, Photography Club, Short Film Club, Literary Club and we have Freedom to start our own.
• The main technical festivals are

1. TecUthasav, a national level technical symposium

2. Quest - for school students in and around Madurai

3. Synapse, a national level techno-managerial event.

4. Department level technical events equivalent to TecUthsav.

• The sports festivals are:

1. TCE Founder Karumuttu Thiagarajar Memorial Hockey Tournament.

2. TamilNadu Inter Engineering Sports.

3. TCE Marathon.

4. In-House Olympics & Sports.

5. TCE Intra College Cricket Tournament.
