Placements and Internships

4.5

  • The college is a label in itself. And the environment is such that the student is constantly motivated to join and apply for internships and placements if one is interested in joining the corporate sector.
  • Reputed companies like McKinsey, BCC, DE Shaw, Deutsche Bank, Deloitte and many Startups come over every year to higher graduates from SRCC. These are basically consulting groups, insurance companies and banks looking for employees. Prior Placement talks with people who are already part of the companies help a lot in getting a basic idea of the work culture within the company.
  • Average package is 6lakhs per annum while the highest package can go to Rs.15 lakhs per annum. Usually, 40-60 % of the crowd that sits for placements, gets placed.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

  • The college has limited seats for the hostel, usually grabbed by the top scorers. so one is very lucky to find a place in the hostel. I wasn't, so can't give details of a hostel.
  • PGs are available in nearby areas like Kamla Nagar(most popular area), Roop Nagar, Bungalow Road, Vijay Nagar, Patel Chest area etc. The PGs are very expensive- an average monthly rent of Rs 9000. That also depends on the range of facilities provided.
  • Food in the college canteen is fine. The canteen has Ac by the way. One can always go to other food outlets nearby or check out some other college's canteen.
  • The infra is best in the university. It is a central air conditioned building with wifi connectivity. Well, lit classrooms and library. The resource center in the library, two computer labs, a swimming pool, football ground and modern sports complex, and an auditorium with good seating capacity are other highlights. Eatery Irrfan's, a photocopy shop and a cooperative shop for basic things make life on campus complete.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • Well, SRCC is a college affiliated to Delhi University. It offers traditional bachelor courses which do not require any entrance exam to be cleared for getting admission. One needs an aggregate of or more than 97% if one belongs to General category, and a slight relaxation of 2-3 percentage points in case of SC, ST category students(that's the usual cut off).
  • The cut-offs are based on students' 12th Board examinations. For the course of Economics Honours, one needs to have Maths as a subject in his/her Intermediate.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

  • Since there are very few rooms devoted to Economics, the timetable can be a little irritating for those in love with continuous classes. The first lecture is usually scheduled at 8.40 in the morning. One can face large gaps between two lectures. Teachers are quite flexible in the sense that they can take extra lectures or make up for late lectures by taking classes during lunch break. These are negotiable. Apart from regular classes, tutorials are held to help students with readings where constructive discussions, as well as surprise tests, are held. These tuitions are organized in groups of at least 10 students which are held once a week for each subject.
  • Teachers are very helpful and engaging. Special reviews for Rakesh Ranjan(Political Economy), Rajiv Jha(Microeconomics) and Avinash Jha(International Economy, Game Theory, Microeconomics)- the Holy Trinity of Economics at SRCC.
  • Overall, this is indeed one of the best colleges in India that give a whole new experience of learning and engaging with the world.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • The annual fee comes to a total of about Rs.30000(two semesters).
  • Scholarships are provided to a very limited lot in the batch.

Clubs and Associations

4

  • Famous for its wide-ranging student societies, clubs and associations, SRCC has over 30 registered and unregistered societies which organise their orientation programmes, interviews and college fests every year to involve more and more people.
  • Crossroads, the SRCC Union fest is a 4-day extravaganza that attracts students from all over the university.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Any 12th passed student from any reputed board in India is eligible. If you meet the cut off then you can come to college with all your required documents. The cut-offs are very high for src around 97% to 98% but it may vary year-wise you can check the du website for the same.
