Placements and Internships

4.5

  • Manipal Institute of Technology gets around 150-250 companies and startups every year. The placement department is very efficient in bringing and ensuring smooth placements for students.
  • Some pf the key companies that come almost every year are Microsoft, Amazon, Philips, Oracle, Dell, L&T, General Motors, Goldman-Sachs Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Mercedez-Benz, Baja Electricals, MahindraTech, FuturesFirst, Musigma, Hewlett-Packard etc.
  • The packages offered range from 2.5-30 lakhs per anum. The highest package secured during my batch was 29 lpa in Amazon. Apart from core companies, the campus also brings MRC's like TCS, IBM, Accenture, Wipro every year. Every year more than 85℅ of the students get placed or secure an internship somewhere.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4.5

  • Manipal Institute of Technology boasts one of the best infrastructures across the universities in India.
  • There are 20+ hostels for students. 10 of them constructed recently in the past 5-6 years. The hostels are maintained very well and undergo maintenance works after every semester. There is 24/7 supply of electricity & water. There is wifi connectivity provided by a local service provider 'i-on' in the hostels and throughout the campus. The wifi, in my opinion, should, however, be improved as its very inconsistent and unstable very often. Excepting the wifi which is the only complaint, there is absolutely nothing to complain about the hostels.
  • The entire fee including the college fees is 3.5 lakhs. The hostels provide a scenic view of the ghats and forests around Manipal due to their location. Outside the university, there are many apartments which offer flats to rent to students. They can be availed for a rent of around INR 4,000- 5,000 a month.
  • However, students are only permitted after their second year in college to move out of the university if they are not a localite. There are around 5 messes and a food court run by the university. The food is generally good in the messes, however, one could get bored of the routine menu.
  • there are many other messes, eateries and popular food chains in and around the university providing a lot of variety for the students taste-buds. The classrooms, labs, hostel rooms are top class and students will generally not have any complaints regarding them

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • Eligibility criteria for MIT is around 70% in high school boards and the students need to attempt a university conducted entrance test in order to be considered for admission procedures.
  • The rank secured in the entrance will be the only factor in deciding which branch the student can be admitted to in the university.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • In MIT, The students are  provided with multiple opportunities in terms of technical and extra-curricular activities right from his/her first semester. The college has its predefined timings according to the no of batches in each branch. These are generally not subjected to change.
  • Each batch generally has 3-4 full days and 3-2 half day respectively depending on how many labs they have in that semester. There was rumor that the college might have reduced the no of working days to 5 for the coming batches which I'm not sure of, though.
  • The college does boast a large no of faculty thereby reducing the student-faculty ratio. The faculty too have varied experience ranging from 2 years to nearly 25 years. Many of them are having Ph.D's and all of them having at least an M-Tech degree.
  • In Manipal Institute of Technology, the teaching quality is pretty good and even if the students face any difficulty from any professor, the college takes a feedback from the students at the end of every semester to improve the quality of teaching.
  • The faculty conducts a whole of 5 assignments in each subject in a semester in order to continuously test the student's understanding of the subject knowledge. There are 2 mid-sem exams along with an end semester exam which is graded cumulatively along with the assignments to grade a student performance in that semester. The labs are very well equipped with both old and modern equipment to provide a student with practical knowledge and new technological developments.

Fees and Scholarships

3

  • In Manipal Institute of Technology, the course fee is around 3 to 3.5 lakh per annum(subjected to change) including college, hostel and mess fees.
  • Scholarships if given would be purely merit based.

Clubs and Associations

5

  • Coming to the college and campus life at Manipal Institute of Technology, the overwhelming number of things the student is provided with will keep the student's life active and definitely not boring. There are nearly 50 clubs both technical and extra-curricular that organize some or the other event every fortnight that keeps one occupied. • There are nearly 50 clubs both technical and extra-curricular that organize some or the other event every fortnight that keeps one occupied.
  • There are two major fests in the college, Techtatva a technical fest where many technical events and workshops are organized which provide the student various chances to expand his/her boundaries of learning and interacting with others. Revels is a cultural fest organized in the even semester features a lot of cultural activities like dance and singing events, sports events, gaming, just-a-minute events, short film competitions, literary events and quizzes etc.. Both the fest attract people from other colleges near Manipal and also universities like NIT-Surathkal, VIT, SRM etc.
  • Overall, Manipal will be an experience you would never forget and it will be a huge factor in the personal and professional development of the student.
