Placements and Internships

4.5

I interned with Idea Celluar and my final offer was with Deloitte Strategy and operations. FMS is called the Marketing campus of India and we have representation from all top marketing firms from the Levers to the PnGs. Infact all top firms visit the campus for all types of roles. The only roles which FMS lacks are front end Investment banking and trading desk roles from a few top international banks. Also top consults like Mc Kinsey, BCG and Bain also do not visit (but I've heard that McK and BCG now does.) FMS is the oldest campus in India and hence the Alum network is active and thriving and fairly responsive when you reach out to them on LinkedIn. There are Alumni dinners which happen multiple times during the year which give you the perfect opportunity to network as well. Still, more can be done in this regard. The average salary for FMS in 2011 would be around 13-14L and 16L including the joining bonus which is offered by all top firms.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

Overall infrastructure is limited to a building and a lawn. Though facilities are decent enough to make do with but much more can be done to improve the infrastructure. One may argue that with this kind of fee structure one is getting more than enough. It is a wifi enabled campus and since it is situated in a university setting it is rather easy to use other university infrastructure. Fairly well connected with autos and taxis. People mostly use bikes and cars(those who are Delhiites), but overall connectivity is no issue at all.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

FMS doesn't have a rigorous schedule by any stretch of the imagination. It is pretty chilled out. Classes start by 9 and one is done with the day by about 4-5 p.m. There are assignments, but those too are pretty doable. I think most of the FMS folks have pretty much all the time to participate in many inter B School competitions that happen around the year and that I think is the major learning for any FMS grad. We have a semester system and hence 4 sets of exams. The library is not something to write home about and is very mediocre. Some of the Faculty members have impressive credentials but others are just about ok. Once again, Faculty is really nothing to write home about, barring a few of them.

Fees and Scholarships

5

Since the fee is INR 20k ($ 350) for two years (Yes..$350), typically you won't need any scholarships, but anyways there are many scholarships you can apply for which range from INR 20k to INR 1 Lakh. Scholarships are given either on your FMS rank (overall: i.e. written plus interview score) or overall semester score. Students do however apply for personal loans since Delhi is an expensive place to stay. You easily get upto INR 1 Lakh loan from SBI bank (that was at South Campus). It is also to be noted that a contribution of about INR 50k (in 2011) was to be made to MSA- a student body, because everything from placements to corporate lectures are managed and organized by students and hence costs have to be borne by this body. Hence the tuition fee can be considered as INR 70k, which still is an absolute steal as compared to any college in the world.

Clubs and Associations

5

FMS has a lot of societies and clubs such as the Marketing club, Finance club, consulting clubs, operations club etc. You have event societies who take care of marquee FMS event Fiesta. There is a placement committee which takes care of placements. Hence, there are multiple clubs and associations to be a part of, which are also great resume points to exhibit leadership qualities. In terms of other stuff such as cultural clubs, since it is a professional course, neither do we expect these, nor are there any such clubs. Sports is more of personal choice at campus and thanks to infrastructure facilities of the university, those who wish to play a sport can easily do so.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : It is quite hard to get selected in FMS for MBA. Although Cut off is high in CAT exam. You should have good percentile in CAT exam to get admission in FMS Delhi.

Fees & Scholarships : 20,000 for 2 years. Enough said. No EMI's to be paid after graduation. So, effectively pay packages are more than other B-schools at least for the initial years.

Academics & Faculty : Faculty of FMS is very good. They have a huge experience. Apart from that, 90% attendance has been made compulsory in FMS and that makes students good in academics. There is semester system here, with each subject faculty taking mid term tests.
