Yash Bardhan Singh's Review on National Institute of Technology, [NIT] Durgapur

• As far as Internships are concerned, in summers there are lots of internships in IIT's and in foreign countries also like Germany (DAAD),USA etc.
• Tata Motors, Honda, Hero Motocorp, Maruti, Tata Poer, Jindal Steel, Bpcl,PWD,L&T etc. companies are recuriting students from this institute.For non-core branches Amazon,Microoft,Snapdeal,Oracle,PayU India,DE Shaw etc. companies are coming to give jobs in their organizations.
• Placement of our college is quite good. CS,IT,ECE branch students are got placed with an average package of Rs 5-6 lakhs per annum. Placements of core branches are also quiet ok. It's not 100% but the deserving candidates have enough scope to get in a good companies. The Highest Salary of this year is Rs 27 lakhs per annum by Amazon to a final year CS Student.
• NITDAA,NIT Durgapur Alumni Association is made to connect the alumni of this college around all over the world. They donates for the cultural fests and for various development activities of the college.

NIT Durgapur is a residential Institute. There are seven hostels for boys and four hostels for girls to accommodate the admitted students. A canteen for the students and the staff is located at the rear exit of the main academic building of the Institute. The Hostel Fee Varies from hostel to hostel. Approximately 2600 is the average hostel mess fee per month.  

As it's fully residential college, there's no need to take PG otside the campus. The food in the college is quiet ok. There's a no. of resturants and food stalls within an outside the campus.  

Guest House, SAC, Oval Ground, Library, Medical, Computer Centre are present within the campus. The Institute Guest House standing beside the Director’s Bungalow serves to render hospitality to the Official and Non-official guests of the Institute.The Institute has a full fledged Physical Training Department for the students. Students are trained in various sports and games by well experienced and qualified coaches arranged by the Department of Physical Training.There is a Medical Unit-cum-Hospital with arrangement for both indoor and outdoor treatment of the patients.The Library as one of the important central facilities of the Institute supports the study, teaching, research and development programmes of the Institute. It is housed in a separate building having three floors on a plinth area of 1000sq. mtrs. The library has a collection of 1.2 lac volumes which includes Text Books, Reference Books & Bound vols. of Journals, Standards etc.Apart from the above each academic department has its own Computer Laboratory with a sizeable number of PCs and Workstations running specialised engineering and scientific packages, like MATLAB, AUTOCad, STADD, IDEAS, PSpice, ANSYS, AFS, Sybase and PowerBuilder.  

• NIT DURGAPUR is one of the premier institute for Higher Education in India and especially its Engineering branches which is the most important pillar of this institute. It's one of the reputed and disciplined college. We have classes on weekdays i.e, from monday to friday from 8:15am to 5:30pm. This is the class timing of our college. But, as per the departmental routine it is made short so that we get sufficient time for other activities also during the weekdays. We have mid-term exams,end semester exams followed by practical exams. Some of the faculties and professors gives assignment but not all. Sophomore year students and mostly Pre-Final year students undergo to project works under the supervision of professors and faculties as per his/her interest but it's not mandatory at all.
• The Quality of teaching is very good. Some of the professors are highly knowledgeble and their method of teching is very interesting. They make diagrams, ppt,  flow-charts, notes to make the topic understandable to all the students.So,overall teching quality is very good in our college.
• My overall Experience is superb till now.  

• Course Fee Of B.Tech 4 year course is Rs 35,OOO each semester and fee is exempted for SC/ST students as per higher education rule by the central government.
• Institute Provides merit-cum-scholarship to the students based on academic excellence and family income criterion. It includes Full Semester as well as Half of the semester fee exemption.
• Approximately 30-50 no. of students got the benefit of this scholarship. The overall tuition,mess,hall and other fee of our college is average. It's not so low as well as high.
• Loans are available to the needy ones. SBI RE College Branch is within the campus and it provides education loans to the students only by submitting of some necessary documents.  

• There are lots of clubs and societies present in our college. Centre of Coginitive Activities, GNU/Linux User's Group, Centre of Application Development, Team NDORS, Prakriti Club, IEEE NIT Durgapur Chapter, Maths N Tech Club, Dance Club, Enteract Club, IIChE Chapter, SPIC MACAY, Team RoboCon, Radio Nitroz, NSS, ISTE, Debating Society of NIT Durgapur etc. are the clubs,associations and socities present for the students to do various interesting and extra co-curricular activities. 
• Recstacy, popularly known as RECS, is the school's annual social and cultural festival. It is held for 4 nights and 3 days near the end of February. It draws a footfall of about 8,000 students from colleges across the country. Aarohan is the Annual National Techno-Management festival organised by the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, West Bengal, India. Aarohan is organised during even semesters and lasts for four days. It is aimed at technical, arts as well as management students by offering a plethora of events, including lectures, seminars, workshops, competitions, paper presentations, exhibitions, quizzes, model displays and robotics events. Other fests include Verve, The Quizzitch Cup, Motor Zundung, Ank, Mukti and Virasat.
