Placements and Internships

4

  • Placements are also done on a very large and organised scale. The CIR department is responsible for placing the students, and have done a very commendable job over time. The department also holds weekly classes for the 3rd and 4th year students to educate them on the possibilities of situations during placements to give them a first hand experience of what is to come.
  • Some of the key companies that approach the campus are Cisco, Infosys, Honeywell, IBM etc.
  • The pay package is also very healthy and reasonable. Every year, almost 90%+ students get placed, with every staff member working their heads off to create internship oppurtunities for students, and have been successful at that too.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

The college infrastructure is also of good standards. A seperate hostel for boys and girls. The annual fee per student inclusive of food, electricity, water, rooms etc is Rs 70,000 per annum.

The mess food although is not of great. Variety and quantity is present, but at times, the quality of food is missing. This however is camouflages by a wonderful canteen which is open for almost 16 hours. Excellent quality of food is served, with wonderful seating places and ample amount of space to move around and have some fun.

The college also possesses a very very high quality library. With scores of number of books available for students to refer and borrow, the library is one of the bets features of the college.

For students who cannot access the library, there is also an option for a 'virtual library' , which is termed OPAC, which is used intensively by all students, day scholars and hostellers together.

There are bus facilities available for the day scholars coming from home, which a cost of 20,000 per annum. The sporting facilities are also very good, with well maintained cricket, football grounds and two basketball courts, one in the girls hostel and one in the boys hostel grounds.

The various halls to conduct different activities are also fantastically furbushed, with good air-conditioning and comfortable seats, the labaratories of various disciplines aptly equipped to ensure no glitches during the course of the degree.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

The Amrita School of Engineering, associated with the Mata Amritanandamayi Math is a prestigious university, ranked among the top engineering colleges in Asia. The Bangalore campus is headed by the dean Dr. Rakesh S.G under the able guidance of director Brahmachari Dhanraj. Accredited with an A grade by the National Assessment and Accredition council (NAAC), the college is a wonderful platform for aspiring engineers. The college not only promises top-class education, but also inculcates life values in a student, which is one of the main requirements in the modern era.

Taught by some of the best teachers across India who have come from the IIT's, BITS, IIMB's etc. , the dearth for seeking knowledge is no less in the college, with AV sessions, one to one methods being implemented in addition to the everyday classes held in classrooms to ensure the complete understanding of the subject by the student.

The university follows a continuous assesment based module, with frequent assesments being held at various stages during the semesters to ensure that the student does not finding themselves laggung behind fellow students. The tests conducted are taken up very seriously and the cummulative scores from the 10-mark quizzes, 50 mark periodicals and end-semester exams form the total CGPA/SGPA of the student.

Apart from curriculum, sports and cultural values are imbibed in each student, in order to prepare the student for outside situations. Weekly yoga and cultural classes are held during the 1st year to bring about an understanding of tradition, values in students. In the following years, Yoga pyschology classes are held to cut-out the loss of cultural values in the students.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • The course fee is priced at Rs 1.6 lakhs per annum for each branch, which is comparitively cheaper as compared to other autonomous colleges. The high standards of teaching and activities held by the college make sup for the sum of money paid to the college.
  • For students coming from a low-economic background, scholarships are offered on a monthly basis, with the maximum scholarship ranging upto 10,000+. Meritous students are even given some stipends as part of the scholarships.
  • In a calendar year, 1000 students are eligible to take up scholarship seats, and have to maintain a certain range of CGPA above which they will be able to retain their scholarship seats.
  • Loans are not necessary. However, it is upto the student and his family's decisions. They can be availed from the Dhanalakshmi Bank which is situated inside the campus.

Clubs and Associations

5

Although Amrita presents an excellent quality of education, there is no lack of extra curricular activities. There is also a Amritadhara club, which is divided into two parts, the technical club and the cultural club.

The technical club consists of groups of clubs which concentrate mainly on the technical aspects of the various engineering models and branches, with coding contests, circuit connection contest frequently being held. Each branch has a club of it's own, but the members joining the clubs are not restricted to join only the club of their discipline.

The cultural club is a very important component of any semester, as impportant as the assesments held. The various clubs like the movie club, writer's club, actor's club, sports club conduct several competitions and events during every semester to ensure that students involve in some fun too apart from the main education. Every festival is also celebrated with equal importance and a lot of fun.
