Placements and Internships

3

I am an upcoming student of the college so I won't be able to answer this yet. But my course structure is designed to have three semesters of regular studies, and the last semester is an internship. Students are supposed to complete one internship after the first year as well, with any social organization.

The college website says that companies like Delloite, Infosys, etc., come for placements, but I am not certain if they hire from this particular course.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

St. Joseph’s College Hostel in Bengaluru has magnificently designed hostel for men with all necessary amenities for boarding and other recreational activities. The hostel has its own canteen to provide healthy and hygienic food to the students. The canteen is maintained on a co-operative basis.

There are two hostels, and both are for boys. The hostel has a mess facility, and a single room with a mess fee for a year will cost INR 89,350. There are pgs available as well nearby college, and they would range from INR 5000 to INR 9000 per month depending on members, location and the facilities.

All the classroom in the college has ICT facility. The classrooms are designed to provide maximum natural light and air circulation. In addition, comfortable seating arrangements are provided to the students and the faculty members. St. Joseph’s College Library is one of the oldest private govt. Aided autonomous degree college libraries in Bengaluru. It is one of the well-stocked college libraries. It regularly subscribes to seventy-two international and national journals, magazines, and fourteen daily newspapers. It caters to the needs of more than 4,500 undergraduate, postgraduate and research level staff & students. The library is fully automated, has a spacious reading hall, and can accommodate one hundred users at any point in time.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

I am a student of the academic year 2021-23. The eligibility criteria for Masters in Arts are a graduation degree in any field with 55% qualifying marks. This year's admission procedure was completely virtual, so I sat through an interview that lasted for 30 minutes. There were two faculty members who asked all sorts of questions related to my studies, experience, interest in the course, etc. The interview was really great. Post that, there was a second interview with the head of the course, and then my admission was finalized. There was no written examination this year, and the typical cutoffs were not mentioned as such. Based on interviews, the admission was finalized, I suppose, and also the qualifying graduation marks play a small role.

P.S- Due to the pandemic, the selection process was a bit different, is what I feel. I have read that St. Joseph's has an entrance exam, but I did not have to sit with it this year.

Academics and Faculty

4

The class timing is from 7 am to 2 pm. The examination is pretty rigorous. I have not started my classes yet, so I can't write about the experience and method of teaching yet. St. Joseph's is considered one of the best colleges in Bangalore for its faculty and the infrastructure, and affordable fee structure.

Fees and Scholarships

3

St. Joseph's College, [SJC] Bangalore Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 1.19 Lakh per annum.

Yes, there are a few scholarships available, and loans can be availed if needed, and I suppose the South Indian Bank branch, which is located on the campus, can be approached for the same.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

Presently the college has around 52 associations that cater to a diverse range of interests from academics to national and international art forms. These associations cover every discipline and are vibrant throughout the year with talks, seminars, workshops and various activities.

College life is very much filled with fun activities, curriculum, diverse student ratio, diverse events. So you won't have a dull day except when you don't study for your exams.
