What is LIC AAO?

About LIC AAO: The full form of LIC AAO is Life Insurance Corporation Assistant Administrative Officer. It is a national level examination for the recruitment of officers to various posts. It is conducted once a year to recruit aspiring candidates to various posts. The examination is conducted in two languages English and Hindi. The recruitment process has three stages. The first stage is Prelims which will have objective type multiple-choice based questions. The second stage is Mains which will have Descriptive type questions. Third and final stage is the personal interview.

LIC AAO 2021 Exam Date

LIC AAO 2021 notification will be released tentatively on Feb 25, 2021 and the online registration began on the same day. The last date to apply online and pay the registration fee will be Mar 15, 2021. The preliminary exam which is scheduled to be conducted on May 7, 2021 whereas the mains exam will be conducted on Jun 25, 2021. LIC AAO 2021 Recruitment

The LIC AAO 2021 recruitment process involves three stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Interview
  4. Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination
  • LIC invites candidates for interview round based on marks obtained in the mains exam only. The final merit list will be based on the marks secured by the candidate in Mains and Interview.
  • The short-listed candidates are required to go through Pre-Medical Examination to know whether they are medically fit for the position or not.

LIC AAO 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure that they are satisfying all the requirements as specified in the eligibility criteria set by the Life Insurance Corporation, before registering for the LIC AAO exam. If they fail to do so, their application will be rejected.


To apply for LIC AAO 2021 exam, the candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

Like other government and bank exams, the LIC AAO has an age limit to apply for the job. To apply, candidates must be in the age group of 21 to 30 years as of March 1, 2021. The age relaxation for the reserved category is as given below.

  • Should has compulsorily passed paper CT1 and CT5 plus 4 or more other papers of the examination conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India / Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. (Total 6 or more papers) as on the date of eligibility i.e. March 01, 2021.

LIC AAO 2021 Syllabus

Syllabus for LIC AAO will help you to prepare for the exam in a better way. The syllabus is similar to that of any Indian management and banking entrance exams, but with a slightly lesser difficulty level. LIC AAO 2021 Exam Pattern

Candidates applying for the post of LIC AO must have a good idea about the pattern of both LIC AAO Preliminary and Mains exam. The LIC AAO 2021 recruitment has 3 levels and it is mandatory for students to successfully clear the cut off of each section to be qualified to the next round.

  • Prelims: Comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and 70 Marks
  • Mains: 300 (Objective) +25 Marks (Descriptive)
  • Personal Interview: 30 Marks

Exam Duration: The duration of the LIC AAO 2021 prelims exam would be 60 minutes and the duration of the LIC AAO 2021 Mains exam would be 150 minutes, which implies 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Marking Scheme: Mark awarded for each correct answer in both prelims and mains would be 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for the descriptive paper of the mains exam. Analyzing the LIC AAO Exam Pattern will help the candidate to prepare well for the exam in advance.

LIC AAO Preliminary Exam Pattern

The pattern of the preliminary exam is given below. It consists of 3 sections and the maximum marks are 70. The exam will be conducted for 1 hour. There is a sectional time limit of 20 minutes for each section. Candidates equal to 20 times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the LIC AAO 2021 Main exam.

LIC AAO Mains Exam Pattern

The LIC AAO 2021 Main exam will comprise 120 Multiple Choice Questions for 300 marks and 2 descriptive questions for 25 marks. Both the objective and descriptive tests will be conducted where candidates have to answer the descriptive question by typing on the computer. There will be separate timing for every section.

LIC AAO 2021 Cut off

The conducting authority will release the cut off marks for each phase of the exam. LIC AAO cut off is the minimum marks candidates must secure in each section of each phase of the selection process. The aggregate cut off marks will be decided by the authority in due course. LIC uses an equivalent-percentile equating method to normalize the score obtained by the candidates.

The basic pay of the LIC AAO Personnel is INR 32,795 per month along with the other allowances. Including all the allowances, the overall salary of the LIC AAO Personnel will be INR 57,000 per month in 'A' class city.
