What is the APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam?

The APPSC Exam stands for the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Examination. The APPSC Group 1 exam is the highest-ranked exam conducted by the APPSC to recruit the second line of officers in the state of Andhra Pradesh, who are second only to the IAS officers posted in the state. Most of the positions hold a gazetted officer's rank, and the officers are provided with the best payments in the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) was formed on 1 November 1956. The APPSC was formerly named as Andhra Service Commission, which was initially based on the regulations of the Madras Public Service Commission.

In 2014, according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the APPSC was divided into two separate bodies - the APPSC for Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) for the Telangana State.

APPSC Group 1 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The official notification released by the APPSC Group 1 2021 Services states that "a candidate must be of sound health, active habits and free from any bodily defect or infirmity rendering him/her unfit for the services." Also, the character and the previous records of the candidate must be as such that render him eligible for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Services. Above all this, the candidates must be a Citizen of India.

Educational Qualification

The essential educational qualification required to apply for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam is a Bachelor's Degree from any UGC recognized University.

  • In case there is no qualifying candidate with the BE (Fire) degree, then candidates with degrees in any other discipline will be considered for the post.
Assistant Treasury Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer in the Treasury and Accounts Services of Andhra Pradesh
  • A degree in Commerce/ Economics/ Mathematics from a UGC recognized University, with at least a 2nd class distinction in the subject.
  • Or, a degree of Chartered Accountants of the United Kingdom or India, or an incorporated Accountant (London).
District Social Welfare Officer in the Social Welfare Services of Andhra Pradesh A Bachelor's degree from any UGC recognized Indian University, provided that preference for this post shall be given to the candidates in possession of a degree in Sociology or Social Work.

Physical Requirements

For Post Code No. 03 & 05 - Vision: Eyesight of the candidates will be tested as per the set rules. The results of each will be recorded.
A General Test and a Visual Acuity Test will also be conducted to check for any abnormality in the candidate's eyes.

APPSC Group 1 2021 Application Form

The application forms for the APPSC Group 1 2021 exams will be made available after the official notification of the APPSC Group 1 2021 exam is released on the official website of the Commission. The aspiring candidates will be given a month to apply for the APPSC 2021 Group 1 exam. The mode of application is online. The preference for the exam centers will be available based on first-come-first-serve.

How to apply?

To access the APPSC Group 1 2021 exam application form, the candidates are required to have an OTPR ID. Candidates who do not have and OTPR ID can follow these steps as mentioned below to generate their OTPR IDs:

  • Visit the official website of the APPSC.
  • Click on "Modify OTPR ID"
  • Click on "New Registration"
  • Fill in all the details required in the next window.
  • Upload an image or a scanned copy of your recent passport-sized photograph, of file size not more than 50 KB in the JPEG format, with dimensions - 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm
  • Upload a scanned copy of your signature, of file size not more than 30 KB in the JPEG format, with dimensions - 3.5 cm X 1.5 cm
  • Tick on the checkbox for declaration of the details provided
  • Preview and check all the details you have provided
  • Submit the OTPR form
  • An OTPR ID will be sent through an email to your registered email id, and through an SMS to your registered mobile number.

Once the candidates have the OTPR ID, they can proceed to apply in the following steps:

  • Log in at the official website using your OTPR ID and your registered mobile number.
  • Click on the DIrect Recruitment link.
  • Click on the APPSC 2021 Group 1 exam notification.
  • Proceed to pay the APPSC 2021 Group 1 application fee.

APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The APPSC Group 1 2021 exam has three stages of evaluation, namely the Prelims Examination or the Screening Test, the Mains Examination, and the Interview Round. Exam Pattern for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam - Prelims

The APPSC Group 1 2021 Prelims is an objective-type exam. It is conducted online through a computer-based test. The Prelims acts only as a screening test for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Mains exam; therefore, the marks secured in the Prelims will not be considered while preparing the final merit list.

  • The APPSC Group 1 2021 Prelims consists of 2 objective-type question papers.
  • Each paper contains 120 questions each.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • The duration of each paper is 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • Negative Marking
    For each wrong answer, ⅓ of the total marks of the question will be deducted. It means that three wrong answers will cost a candidate one right answer. Therefore, candidates must carefully answer the questions, avoiding any guessworks.

Prelims Paper I: General Studies

This paper contains four parts - A, B, C, and D. Each section consists of 30 questions worth 30 marks.

Exam Pattern for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam - Mains

The APPSC 2021 Group 1 Mains Exam is the test that evaluates a candidate's thorough knowledge and deep understandings of the domains that are required for such public administrative posts as offered by APPSC 2021 Group 1 Service. The marks secured in the Mains exam goes into the calculation of the final result, on which the merit list is prepared.

The APPSC 2021 Group 1 Mains is a descriptive-type exam. The candidates are required to write the conventional essay-type answers for the questions. The APPSC has changed the exam pattern for the APPSC 2021 Group 1 exam. It has introduced a new Paper on Polity and Constitution, which will be regarded as Paper III. Previously, there was a single combined paper of History and Constitution, and hence the total number of papers in the APPSC 2021 Group 1 Mains exam was 6. But now the total number of papers for the APPSC 2021 Group 1 Mains exam is 7.

Only those candidates who qualify in the APPSC Group 1 2021 Mains exam will be called for the APPSC 2021 Group 1 Interview Round. The APPSC 2021 Group 1 Interview will be conducted at the Commission's Office premises in Vijayawada.

The candidates will be asked questions from their respective academic backgrounds, their city/town of residence and education, current affairs and critical issues related to Andhra Pradesh.

APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam Centres

The APPSC Group 1 2021 exam centers are mentioned in the official APPSC Group 1 2021 notification. The candidates will need to choose their preferred exam centers while filling in the APPSC Group 1 2021 application form. Results of the APPSC 2021 Group 1 Exam - Prelims

The APPSC Group 1 2021 result for the Prelims exam is declared within one month of the date of the Prelims exam. The candidates who qualify in the Prelims are called to appear in the APPSC Group 1 2021 Mains exam. The Prelims is only a screening exam. The marks secured in the Prelims are not considered in the preparation of the final merit list. The APPSC Group 1 2021 Mains exam is the most crucial phase of the APPSC Group 1 2021 exam. The marks secured in the Main exam are considered for the final selection. Results of the APPSC Group 1 2021 Exam - Interview Round

The candidates who qualify the Mains exam are eventually called for the APPSC Group 1 2021 Interview Round at the Office of the Commission in Vijayawada. The Interview Round is the last phase of the APPSC Group 1 2021 exam. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined total marks secured in the Mains Exam and the Interview Round. The document verification process is also carried out in this phase, after which, the candidates receive their appointment letters from the respective departments.
