CBSE-affiliated English medium Sainik Schools prepare cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and other officer training academies. The AISSEE application form 2021 was closed on Nov 5, 2021, and the application correction window was open from Nov 7 to Nov 11, 2021.

What is AISSEE?

AISSEE full form is the All India Sainik School Entrance Exam. The Sainik School Society conducts the exam for candidates aspiring to pursue education, which would help them get into National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and other officer training academies. There are 31 Sainik Schools across the country, with some more schools in the proposal. 

Every year, about 25% of candidates who enter the National Defense Academy happen to be from Sainik Schools. Every year National Defence Academy accepts 25% of all candidates from Sainik Schools. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense, Sainik School Society, being an autonomous organization, has set up these schools around the country, intending to educate the students in a simulated military environment.

The exam will be conducted in English and other Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Gujarati, Assamese, Punjabi, Bengali and Urdu. Check the table below for AISSEE highlights.

AISSEE 2022 Eligibility

It is important for candidates aspiring to attempt AISSEE 2022 to carefully go through the eligibility criteria defined by the organizing authorities. Following are the criteria set by the Sainik School Society for the AISSEE entrance examination 2022.

The AISSEE exam will be held for admission to classes VI & IX. Students between the age of 10 to 12 years (both girls and boys) and 13 to 15 years (only boys), respectively, as of Mar 31, 2022, are eligible to take the entrance exam.

For admission to Class IX, the boys must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school. Admission will be made strictly in order of merit only in classes VI and IX.
The age limit criteria for admission to Sainik School as of Mar 31, 2022, is as follows.

Note: The Sainik School admission is open for girls only for class VI.

AISSEE 2022 Application Form

All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam named as AISSEE, in short, is conducted all over India to provide admission to Sainik Schools. Aspirants can take admission to classes VI and IX after qualifying for the AISSEE 2022 entrance exam.

Candidates had to apply by entering their personal and essential information like phone number, email address, locality, basic education details, etc. The candidates also had to upload their scanned photographs and signature in the respective forms. The exam centre will depend on the choice preferred by the candidate depending on the nearest exam centre.

The next step for a successful application was the fees that had to be paid online. The AISSEE application form and other details were available on the official website.

How to Apply for AISSEE?

The applicants had to register for the examination, and they had to follow the steps given below to complete the application process. The applicants had to apply on the AISSEE official website before the last date of application.

AISSEE Registration

This year, the application form was released in online mode only. For the online application form, the eligible applicants had to visit the official website of AISSEE. Candidates had to check whether they were eligible for the exam before they started the application process. Candidates applying for classes VI and IX were suggested to have the recent testimonials, scanned photographs and signatures with them while applying online so that the right information was entered. The candidates were advised to fill in the information carefully.

Uploading of Photo and Signature

Candidates needed to upload their recent colored passport size photograph and signature on the panel to complete the registration process successfully. Printing the application form was not possible without uploading the photograph and signature, and the photograph and signature had to be less than 1MB in size.

Online Payment

After successful registration, the candidates had to choose the payment option. Candidates could submit the admission fee online through credit card, debit card and net banking.

The registration fee was included in the selling price of the prospectus-cum-application forms. The fees concerning the categories are as given below.

Note: Once the payment was done successfully, the candidate could edit the AISSEE application form when the correction window was opened.


The candidate had to sign the application form at the space provided on the application form. The candidate had to keep a photocopy of the application form as a reference for future correspondence.

AISSEE 2022 Exam Pattern

AISSEE is conducted offline, using the OMR sheet. Candidates are advised to understand the exam pattern for AISSEE carefully to avoid unnecessary mistakes. The entrance exam consists of two different sections, specifically paper I and paper II.

Paper I will be held in the first half of the examination day. This paper consists of a Mathematical knowledge test for 100 marks and a Language ability test for 100 marks, and paper II will be an Intelligence test that contains 100 marks.

Paper I will be held for two hours, and paper II will be held for 50 minutes. The candidates should go through the medical examination to be observed as per the physical standard of authority.

AISSEE Syllabus for Class IX

The questions for class IX will be asked from the whole of IX standard subjects. The section on current affairs and general awareness will have higher difficulty than the class VI questions. The candidates would be required to know about political and cultural events happening in the world.

AISSEE 2022 Result

For the year 2022, the results will be announced after the exam is conducted. After publication of the written merit list, the Sainik School Society invites qualified candidates through official call letters for the next process, i.e., the interview and the medicals.

The written exam results will be available on the official website of Sainik School Admissions, and the aspirants can log in to their candidate portals to view the results. The candidates must enter the login credentials to access their account, and display the status of their application along with the official publication of the results.

AISSEE 2022 Selection Process

The minimum qualifying marks for general category candidates and children of Defense Services personnel and veterans will be 25% in each subject with 40% in aggregate unless these qualifying standards are revised or amended by the issue of written directions by the honorary Secretary.

In the case of scheduled castes and tribes candidates, minimum qualifying standards are not required. They will be admitted based on their merit in the entrance examination within these categories. If an SC/ ST candidate comes in the general merit on their own, they will be admitted against the general seat and will not be adjusted against the reserved share of SC/ ST seats.


The Sainik School Society invites the merit-qualified candidates to appear for the interview as the next round of the selection process. The candidates are invited through the official call-up letters sent out by the admissions department. Candidates then appear for the interview at the centre as directed in the call-up letter.

The interview process is designed in an SSB pattern, where the candidate will be evaluated on several grounds, from aptitude and knowledge to communication skills.

Medical Exam

The candidates successful in qualifying for the medical examinations will receive a final call-up letter for their admissions. However, before the admissions, the candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination by the military hospitals as prescribed by the Sainik School Society. The candidates will be screened for any physical ailments that would hamper their performance and their health in the academy.

The final admissions list with the candidates' names and the roll numbers will be out soon after the exam. The list will consist of those candidates who are on the waitlist for admissions.


15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes. 25% of seats are reserved for children of service personnel, including veterans.

Out of the remaining, 67% of the seats will be reserved for children from the state where the Sainik Schools are located. Balance 33% leftover of seats will be open to children from other states and Union Territories in the ratio of their male population. Any unutilized seats in this category will be merged with home state seats.
