University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, [UAHS] Bangalore

The University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Bangalore (UAHS) is a University in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the state's first integrated university to have both agricultural and horticultural sciences under its purview. UAHS was established under Karnataka Act no. 38 of 2012, vide notification no. Sam. Vya. Sha. ilakhe, 19 Shasana 2012, dated 21-09-2012 published in the Special Gazette of Karnataka, part IV – A, No. 656, on 21-09-2012. UAHS came into independent existence on 1 April 2013 with Dr. P.M. Salimath serving as Special Officer. Later in the year 2014 Dr. C. Vasudevappa Former Dean Post Graduation Studies UAS, Bengaluru, was appointed as first Vice-Chancellor.The University was created by separating seven districts from the jurisdictional area of University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and including all the institutes that came under the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. The jurisdictional area of UAHS, Shimoga covers the districts of Shimoga district, Chikkamagaluru district, Udupi district, Dakshina Kannada district, Kodagu district, Davanagere district and Chitradurga district.

  • Passed 10+2 examinations with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biology/Technical Vocational Subject.
  • For Diploma lateral entry students, passed diploma in an AICTE approved Institution with a minimum of 45%marks

Eligibility Criteria for PG courses at University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, [UAHS] Bangalore

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in the relevant field and have obtained at least 50%.
  • 45% minimum in case the student belongs to reserved category.

 


HOSTEL

The Institution provides YOGA facilities as a part of hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. The hostels are spacious, safe and secured with a cordial environment and surrounded by pleasant landscapes. A hygienic kitchen has been provided in each hostel with large dining halls. The rooms are well furnished. college has 4(four) ladies hostels accommodating 1400 (one thousand four hundred) and above boarders and 7(seven) boys hostel with 2500 and above boarders.Both the hostels have round the clock Wi-Fi connectivity and medical facility. Proper hygienic condition and strict supervision is maintained throughout.

TRANSPORTATION

College has its dedicated transport for the day scholars, covering entire city. Route plans are chalked out keeping in mind the convenience of the students. The institute has deployed twelve medium sized buses so as to save time for students in commuting to and from the institute.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

The Institute makes all out efforts to bring-out the hidden talents of the students and nourish in them leadership qualities, excellent communication skills and a developed personality, so that they grow up as professionals of global standards to flourish in professional career.


ANTI WOMEN HARASSMENT CELL

As made mandatory by law an anti women harassment cell is functioning in University with a senior professor as Chairperson and other senior faculty members as members. The Cell is empowered to look into all forms of harassment against women and recommend appropriate sanctions.
