University College of Law was established in 1962 with an aim to cater to the educational needs of the law students of North Karnataka. The institution has on its roll competent, qualified, dedicated teachers and researchers, most of them have carved out a niche amongst the members of the legal fraternity and enjoy an enviable standing at the national level. The university, with a view to make the institution an exemplary one is determined to increase the staff strength and provide all other necessary facilities which would make the above Honours program, challenging, stimulating and successful.

The college has, from the academic year 1997-98, introduced the 5- year B.A. LL.B. (Hons) program recommended by the Bar Council of India. Entry into this program under University College of Law admission is based on an admission test where the competition has been found to be extremely keen. Although the maximum intake capacity is 60, bearing in mind the teacher-student ratio, the institution admits around 40 students only.

University College of Law Integrated Course Admission 2024

 University College of Law admission offers B.A. LL.B which is an integrated programme with a duration of five-years. Details regarding course, eligibility, admission details are as follows.

University College of Law Integrated Course Eligibility

To get admission into the three years of undergraduate degree course, the candidate the must have passed his/ her Higher senior secondary examination (10+2) with a specific combination of the subjects from recognized education board. Some of the eligibility criteria are as follows.

  • A candidate will be eligible to take the admission test if he/ she has successfully completed the Pre-University examination (10 + 2 level Examination) conducted by the Pre-University Examination Board and has secured at least 45% marks in the aggregate or possesses such other equivalent qualification as the university may prescribe
  • Those who come under the category of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are eligible to take the admission test if they have secured at least 45% in the aggregate, in the Pre-University examinations
  • Candidate, who have appeared for the Pre-University examination and are awaiting results, may also appear for the admission test. But, such candidates will be admitted to the Five Year B.A. LL.B. (Hons) programme only after fulfilling the conditions stipulated in these ordinances and other conditions which the university may prescribe from time to time
  • The candidate shall not have completed twenty years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission
    In the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category I, the maximum age limit shall be twenty-two years as on 1st July of the year of admission

University College of Law Application Form 2024

Candidates seeking admission to the Five-Year B.A. LL.B.(Hons) programme will have to appear for an admission test designed to determine the candidate’s skill in comprehension, communication, knowledge of arithmetic, his aptitude for legal learning and logical reasoning.

  • The admission test shall be administered by the university or any other body duly authorized by the university to do so.
  • The duration of the admission test will ordinarily be, two hours.
  • The university or the body authorized to administer the test may prescribe question papers, have the answer scripts assessed and prepare a list of the candidates based upon merit.
  • In respect of rural students who have passed the qualifying examination, a weightage of 5% shall be given; this will be added to the marks obtained by the candidate taking the admission test before merit list is finalised.
  • The admission fee for the proposed course will be based on University College of Law fee structure.
