The West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning, and Administration, [WBUTTEPA] Kolkata was established by the West Bengal state legislature by the virtue of Act 21 of 2014 which was published in the Kolkata Gazette in January 2015. The University was formed with the motive of pursuing educational excellence through scholarship and research to create good teachers for students and valuable individuals for society. The University plans to achieve this goal by being the umbrella institute for all training colleges, centers of study, places organizing research in Teacher's training in West Bengal. 

The West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning, and Administration, [WBUTTEPA] Kolkata offers courses in B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil and Ph.D. The University envisions to become ways and means for finding out innovative courses in teacher's education at undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition, it seeks to become a clearinghouse for ideas and information in research, training, planning, and administration of education.
