Academics & Faculty : The classes are from 8 am to 3 pm from Monday to Friday with 7 hours of class and two breaks inbetween. A total of 3 cycle tests and final examination will take place along with which we will have assignments, surprise tests, and quizzes. The final grade will be based on 50% from the external end semester exam and 50% internals from the cycle tests and assessments. For each subject, there will be five units that will be covered in that semester. The teaching method will include powerpoints, video presentation, hands-on and regular classes depending on the course requirement. The quality of teaching will be outstanding. The faculties are the best thing in SRM, and everyone will be super motivating, encouraging, helping and friendly who, really care about you and your future.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : SRM Institute of Science and Technology is deemed to be a University which, has its own entrance exam - SRMJEEE, a computer-based examination for 125 marks in 2 hours and 30 minutes testing your physics, chemistry, math, English, and aptitude ( will have to appear for biology is your course requires) one who is desiring to join SRM should take up this exam and clear it, the rank obtained will decide your preference. Also, on cracking JEE Mains, you will be eligible for admissions in SRM. There are various campuses, and the eligibility criteria differ for each. In the Chennai campus for the B.tech course, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required in PCM subjects which also should be your core subjects. On fulfilling these criteria, you can secure your place in this college. But, I failed to take up the exam due to personal reasons and was admitted through the management quota for a higher fee structure. So, my sincere advice is to take the entrance exams, based on which you will be able to avail a lot of chances of obtaining scholarships.

Placements & Internships : SRM attracts over 450+ recruiters providing the students with a wide range of opportunities which, has been consistent over the years. From the first semester, students will be trained for their placements starting aptitude to group discussions and interviews by the career developement centre, which consists of very experienced faculty members who guide the students. Internship offers will be provided from the third year of the course. To mention a few internships in which I got an oppurtunity to attend the second level of interview selection, SIEMENS, OPTUM, BARCLAYS. Also, equal opportunities for girls will be provided. And another thing that I have to mention is the support from the seniors and alumni, and they will be more than glad to help and provide proper guidance. Even in this pandemic time, SRM was able to do placements, and many were placed.

Fees & Scholarships : As mentioned earlier, the fee structure also differs with each campus and each course. In SRM IST, Vadapalani branch for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering the fee collected is 2 Lakhs per year for four years and for management students the fee will 2.5 Lakhs. But there are a lot of scholarships available. Even I was able to avail the academic excellence scholarship after getting 10 SGPA in my first semester. SRM will encourage you alot and push you forward. There are also other scholarships like Founders scholarship, Socio-economic scholarship, employee ward, disabled and much more. A lot of students get benefitted by these scholarships.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Vadapalani being in the heart of Chennai has well-connected transportation facilities and hostel facilities in Ramapuram with bus services for both boys and girls. Also, PGs are available nearby itself for those who dont feel comfortable with the hostel. All the classrooms are air-conditioned, and the labs are well-equipped. The library consists of a wide- range of books that are informative for all the courses. Canteen is well-maintained with proper food. It also has lift facilities, auditorium and 2-wheeler parking facilities.

Clubs & Associations : There are a lot of clubs that are available and that encourage extracurriculars of the students. Also, sports activities are valued here. For CSE students, some of the available clubs are white hat hackers club, design and innovation club, and a club for those interested in model united nations. Uber tech is the main national level symposium in the CSE department, which will happen in the odd semester. There will be sports and cultural taking place within the campus against other branches in even a semester. Winners of these competitions will be awarded and will be handed a certificate. College life, in a nutshell, is a beautiful experience in SRM institute and also life-changing.
