Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology popularly known as RGCET is a premier engineering institute situated in Puducherry, India. RGCET was established in the year 1999 under Sri Balaji Educational and Charitable Public Trust. The Building for the college is constructed in an area of 30 Acres of Land at Kirumampakkam, 13 Kms from Pondicherry towards Cuddalore. Pondicherry is 150 km from Chennai. It is well connected by road and rail. The nearest Airport is Chennai airport and the Railway station is Cuddalore. The Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville and Manakula Vinayagar Temple are also located in the Union Territory, well known for its weather and conducive learning atmosphere. The college offers under graduation, post graduation programs in engineering and technology and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with several specializations. RGCET is affiliated to Pondicherry University and is accredited by NAAC with an A grade, the college has now applied for NBA accreditation too. The college has Spacious Class Rooms, Drawing Hall, good collection of books in the Library, fully Air-conditioned Computer Lab with sufficient infrastructure, well equipped Physics and Chemistry Labs, Basic Workshops, Staff Room, Students Rest Rooms and a Canteen for the use of students and staff.

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology Programs Offered:

RGCET offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and technology with several specializations and the prospective candidate can select the program of their interest. Apart from these the college offers masters in computer application degree and masters in business administration too. The college also offers research programs under the Centre of Advanced Materials Engineering Research and Applications for meritorious students applying.

Centre for Advanced Materials Engineering Research and Applications (CAMERA). Research center was established on 21st June 2012 at Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology under the Sri Balaji Educational and Charitable Public Trust. The centre opens it is research area under various multidisciplinary fields, which includes chemistry, physics, computational, biomedical, electrical, electronics, mechanical and etc. The faculty members of the centre are Dr. P. Muralidharan, Dean (R&D), Prof. K. B. Renukadevi, Dr. A. Jayaprakash, Dr. A. Srinivasan, Dr. T. Rani, Dr. Dooslin Mercy Bai from various Departments of the college. Also, the centre includes two research scholars. The equipment available in the research centre are

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology Infrastructure:

The college have several dedicated facilities for the usage of its students and staff members. These infrastructure makes sure to set the right atmosphere for the students to learn and inculcate skills and knowledge effectively. The facilities provided by the college are library, hostel, laboratories, sports and many other extra curricular and recreational activities are present. The library is fully automatic & air conditioned. There is a huge collection of books and reference books, articles, national and international journals, magazines and subscription to a number of newspapers. The library has Volumes books 28,074 and Titles 5650, Printed 72 National Journals and 3142 International Journals DELNET Online e-Journals, Magazines, and Back Volumes 433, CDs / DVDs 1888 and CD ROMs, CD writing and Scanning, Internet browsing and 1256 Project Report and NPTEL Programme incorporated in our Central Library. This is the first Institution in Puducherry State. It holds video and web based courses that is being prepared by seven IITs and IISC., Bangalore as Collaborative projects.Separate residential complex with excellent facility accommodates both boys and girls. The hostel facility come along with all the requirements to carter the needs of the students residing at the facilities.Tremendous facilities for games and sports like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball etc. are available in the college. Well-equipped gymnasium is available in the hostel campus. Various cultural and extra-curricular activities are organized in the college on regular basis. Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology Placement and Training:

The College has a Training and Placement Cell for the benefit of students. The Cell has been very active ever since its inception. It trains the students for Employability skills through Aptitude Tests, Group Discussions, Mock Interviews and Communication Skills etc thereby preparing the students to face the Campus Interviews with confidence. The vital role of the Cell is to mould the students through vigorous training to face the challenges of the future and help them get placed in MNCs. The Cell arranges various workshops, which highlights the avenues and opportunities for the students by bringing eminent personalities and trainers from various Industries. T&P Cell is also responsible for maintaining Industry-Institutional Relationships through which it has approached many companies and brought them to the campus for recruitment. It receives continuous support from professional bodies like NIPM (National Institute of Personnel Management) and CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and Companies like NLC (Neyveli Lignite Corporation), TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) Chennai and L&T (Larsen and Toubro Ltd) Chennai, HLL, HCL Info systems Ltd, BERGER PAINTS, MARICO Industries, SUZLON ENERGY Ltd,  RANE BRAKES Ltd, IBM-LENOVO- Pondicherry, etc. Apart from training and developing the students, the Cell takes initiative in arranging FDP (Faculty Development Programs) by eminent consultants, to empower the faculty members with the latest trends in order to enhance their skills in innovative methods of teaching. Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology Eligibility Criteria:

The college has set up certain criteria which should be satisfied by the prospective candidates for being eligible for the courses offered by the institution. The minimum eligibility required for being able to apply for the offered programs include,

The candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st July of the academic year under consideration. For Lateral Entry admission to the second year of degree programme, candidates should not have completed 24 years as on 1st July of the academic year under consideration. In the case of SC/ST candidates, the age limit is relaxed by 3 years for both the cases. MCA and MBA programs have no age limit restrictions.

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology Admission:

The admission process at RGCET is completely performed on the basis of merit only. The prospective students willing to apply to the college for its offered programs can refer to the following steps for detailed process of admission.

• The students are firstly asked to read the eligibility criteria carefully.
• The candidates are then advised to fill in the registration form available at the official homepage of the college.
• Once the registration fee is paid the candidate has to wait for the merit list release and the date of counselling.
• Upon being selected for admission the candidate will then be advised to pay the admission fee for the respective program and report to the college for the document verification process and any other formalities as per the university guidelines.

The institution provides excellent hostel facilities for boys and girls with delicious food. The hygienically maintained canteen inside the campus provides lunch and snacks. Only vegetarian food is provided. Lunch is provided inside the campus for all students. A separate Hostel building with One Lakh Sq. ft. is being constructed and the same will be ready for occupation in the near future.
