The University started Distance Education in the academic year 1995 – 96. The aim is to provide education to all those who are not privilaged to persue education through on campus programe.

• The college has two big Auditoriums and several mini and conference halls which are all air-conditioned.
• A branch of Indian Bank that provides ATM facility is available on the campus and is situated near the Security Gate. 
• There is an "University Bookshop" where books of varied disciplines on self-development, fiction, text books, audio books etc. are available with a 10% of discount for the students.
• There are three canteens and coffee bars. There are also two Ponlait Bunks available.
• The campus of this college is considered as a gift .The University has an 800 acres campus spread on either side of the East Coast Road.
• There is a computer centre available in the college.
• The day care centre or child care centre is beneficial for the children of our University employees  and also the children of married research scholars
• The is an university guest house which is located 14kms away from the town. It was fully air conditioned halls and rooms.
• The are gyms available for both boys and girls inside the campus. 
• There ia an "Engineering Wing" which maintains the civil works, water supply and sanitation.
• The electric wing takes care of the electrical power supply to the various academic, administrative building,hostels, residential quarters and utility buildings.
• There is a health centre available in the campus which attends to any student if he/she is sick. They also provide ambulance services.
• The college provides college and dinning facilities.There are  11 hostels for men and 5 hostels for women.
• The college provides a Library which has a  friendly modern infrastructure for 80,000 sq. ft and is  fully air-conditioned and WIFI enabled.
• The "placement cell" motivates, trains and prepares the students for campus interviews.
• There is post office which functions in the amenities building.
• They provide seperate tranport facilities for both faculty and students.
•  The college has a shopping complex which has various Provisions, household items, Diet food items, Cosmetics, Kids items, Stationery, Mobile top-ups etc.

• Candidates can apply online.
• The application form needs to be filled without any errors.
• A Demand Draft for the stipulated amount need to be submiitted along with the form.
• The application form should be submitted before the last date.

Pondicherry University - Distance Education Hostel Details:

• There are 17 Hostels out of which 11 are for men and 5 for women and 1 for foreign students. 
• The hostel is headed by a chief warden.
• The total  occupancy capacity for all the hostels together is 1500 residents.
• Free accommodation and food for Differently-abled students are provided.
• There are two hostels one for men and one for women exclusively for research scholars.
• Preference shall be given on first come first served basis for students who come from different places.
• There are mess facilities which provides food at moderate rates.
