Class rooms and tutorial rooms at Oriental College of Pharmacy are quite spacious and modern. They are set as per the latest standards of AICTE/ PCI. OCP also has a medicinal plant garden, which well maintained under the supervision of very senior pharmacognosy faculty. Its drug museum has several novel drugs and is maintained to keep students aware of the current scenarios in the pharma industry. The drug museum is arranged according to diseases the drugs treat as well as types of dosage forms.
The library at OCP is well ventilated and furnished with individual segments. It is equipped with internet facility for students and has very helpful staff members.
Some of the major labs at Oriental College of Pharmacy are Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical analysis, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Anatomy Physiology. The facilities available in individual labs are as follows:
Pharmaceutics laboratory has all basic and advanced facilities for dosage form development and understanding all intricacies of manufacturing of any dosage form. It has all modern design equipments like, different type of dissolution apparatus, rotary evaporator, refrigerated centrifuge and all other modern sophisticated equipments. The Machine room houses rotary tablets press, ointment filling machine, tablet coating machine, collapsible tube crimping machine, mixers, dryers and other equipments.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry: This laboratory houses facilities for synthesis of chemicals and its identification. It is well equipped with fuming hood and other safety measures.
Pharmaceutical Analysis: This houses sophisticated analytical instruments like U.V. Visible Spectophometer, Flourimeter, Polarimeter, Colorimeter, Digital PH Meter, Digital Balances (1mg sensitivity), and Potentiometer etc. The college has plans to procure modern instruments like , HPTLC, Gas Chromatographs, NMR Spectrophotometer, and Mass Spectrophotometer.
Central Instrument Room, which includes HPCL, FTIR, Spectrophotometer, Brookfield Viscometer. HPTLC lyophilizes and particle size analyser are in a process of purchase.
Microbiology & Biotechnology Lab: This state-of-the-art lab is designed for sterile manufacturing and quality control of injectables, ophthalmic and is equipped with high quality chemicals, Laminar Air Flow, UV tubes, HEPA filters and other requirements needed for aseptic room sterility testing, microbial assay. It also has facility for biotechnological & tissue culture techniques available in these labs.
OCP also has modest animal houses equipped with all the facilities for animals like mice, guinea-pigs, frogs etc. that are used for conducting experiments based on the B.Pharmacy course, M.Pharm research as well as industrial research projects. These animals are kept in conformation with C.U.P.A. and C.P.C.S.E.A. norms.
The computer lab at the Oriental College of Pharmacy is centrally located and highlights the significance of Information Technology in pharmacy education. All computers in the campus are networked via LAN and have constant access to the internet. Students are offered a foundation course to introduce them to World Wide Web consortium and use technology well in all their academic related research during the course.
