M.Tech [Master of Technology] Details

OPJU M.Tech Course:

Master of Technology [M.Tech] course is a postgraduate course offered by OP Jindal University. The M.Tech Programme at OPJU fosters advanced learning and research in the respective field and is designed with the specific purpose of identifying, nurturing and supporting young Technocrats in realizing their dreams.

Why Study M.Tech in OPJU?

 OPJU M.Tech Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

• M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology or MCA with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
• M Tech in Material Science and Technology: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Metallurgy/ Mechanical/ Chemical/ Production/ Industrial (or) MSc (Physics /Chemistry / Material Science / Nano Science and Technology) with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
• M Tech in Power Plant Engineering and Energy Management: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/instrumentation with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
• M Tech in Power Electronics and Power systems: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Electrical/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and communication engineering with a minimum aggregate of 50% or MSc Electronics from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
• M Tech in Structural Engineering:: BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in Civil engineering with a minimum aggregate of 50%.
• A relaxation of 5% marks in Graduation will be made for ST/SC/OBC/PWD candidates.
• Performance in GATE and/or OP Jindal University entrance test and personal interview.
• Provisional admission will be given to students who are awaiting results - based on past performance.
• Candidates may also be required to produce letter(s) of recommendation from their previous teachers.
• General: These are full-time programs and will require students to dedicate themselves completely to the taught and research schedule. It is advisable for students to stay on campus in hostels which will also facilitate them in taking up assistantship opportunities. MTech students will be given single room accommodation subject to availability.

OPJU M.Tech Admission:

The admission process for M.Tech Course will be done online and the procedure is listed below:

1. Apply (Online/Offline) for the programmes at OPJU School of Engineering, School of Management, School of Science.
2. The application should be accompanied by an Application Fee of Rs. 500* for Undergraduate & Postgraduate Programme and Rs 2000 for Doctoral Programme payable online (Internet banking/Credit/Debit card) or Cash/DD/Bank Transfer.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for a personal interview with the selection panel
4. A merit list will be announced for eligible candidates for each round. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for Counselling. On the subject to fulfilment of requisite conditions, eligibility and verification of documents a provisional admission offer letter will be issued to the candidate. The candidate is required to deposit the fee within the stipulated date.
5. If the candidate doesn’t pay the fee by the stipulated date, the admission would be deemed cancelled and the seat will become vacant for the next round of Counseling.
6. Admission offer will be made subject to fulfilling all requisite conditions and verification of documents

OPJU M.Tech Scholarships:

OPJU offers various scholarships for the meritorious students by deducting the amount of the fees for a particular course.

Scholarships and teaching/research assistantships are available for deserving meritorious students. The minimum requirement for scholarships is a score of 75% and above in the Qualifying exam. Each scholarship application will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. The scholarships are given on an annual basis. To continue the scholarships after the first year, the student will have to maintain a minimum prescribed academic performance during the course of the programme.

Assistantships require students to commit a minimum of 8 hours of work per week outside regular academic work, assisting professors on teaching or research projects. Typically an assistantship could pay a stipend of Rs. 2,500 to 5,000 per month depending on the type and quality of work undertaken.

Continuation of assistantship during each semester is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and satisfactory performance in the discharge of responsibilities assigned under the scheme.
