MNNIT, Allahabad, is a reasonably good college, albeit a famous one. Students can often describe their life at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, as nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. The institute was among the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges in India set up in 1961. 

One of the primary reasons students choose MNNIT is for its placement opportunities. Evidently, it has a lucrative placement scenario. However, the same cannot be said for its infrastructure. It still has a long way to go to establish the state of the infrastructure. That being said, there is rarely any compromise in academics. Academic life can be demanding, with a lot to cover in the courses. Throughout their journey at the institute, students learn from peers and engage in healthy competition.

Industry Oriented Academics

MNNIT, Allahabad's approach towards the course curriculum is driven by industry trends. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and research courses. These are provided in the fields of Technology, Business and Management, Science, etc. The B.Tech and BCA are among the famous courses at the institute.

The course curriculum is robust and rigorous. Students often find it hard to cope with such pressure. However, once they graduate, having the ability to withstand such pressure only helps them in the corporate world's fast and demanding life. 

The exams at the institute are conducted in a timely manner. The difficulty level of the exams ranges from difficult to moderate. Students need to spend a good amount of time preparing for the semester exams. Theoretical and practical learning are both given equal importance. 

Expert Faculties

The faculties at Moti Lal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, possess high qualifications and experience. Such expertise surely seeps into the teaching pedagogy. The professors are warm and friendly and always extend their help in resolving the students' queries and doubts.

However, few are strict and prefer to maintain a professional approach with the students. While this may be good to maintain a healthy relationship between the students and the professors. Many students might also hesitate to approach such faculty members out of fear. 

Expensive Course Fees

Even though MNNIT, Allahabad, is a government university, its course fees are not inexpensive. For its most popular course, B.Tech students must pay approximately INR 5,00,000 for the entire 4 years course. Similarly, the 2-year MBA course costs INR 1,77,000. The course fees for M.Tech and MCA are INR 2,34,800 and INR 3,29,000, respectively.

Students from economically compromised backgrounds find it difficult to pay such high fees. The institute grants a handful of scholarships to help ease the financial burden. However, they still need to pay for their accommodations and other necessities.

Decent Yet Lacking Infrastructure

MNNIT Allahabad's infrastructure is not at par with the country's top-tier institutions. However, it still provides decent facilities to the students that aid their academics. The classrooms are spacious and traditional. It seats all the students in the class comfortably. Although it lacks the facility of a smart class, The central library holds an enormous number of books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, etc.

There are multiple laboratories. Each course or department has its own laboratory to cater to the needs of the students. The labs are maintained well. There are ample instruments present in the laboratories. Hence, students do not have to struggle for the same. 

One of the many infrastructural shortcomings is the space available on campus. The entire institute is smaller than its counterparts. This creates several issues when the college needs to expand its infrastructure. 

There are ample sports facilities. Starting from the Badminton courts, Cricket fields, Football grounds, etc. Other facilities include a gymnasium, medical centre, cafeterias, transportation facilities, convenience store, etc. While these facilities are commendable, the food quality in the cafeterias is questionable.

Clean and Comfortable Hostels 

The MNNIT, Allahabad, has a vast hostel complex. The accommodations are available to both boys and girls. The hostel has every amenity required for daily activities, like a cot, table, chair, wardrobe, etc. Furthermore, it also has a phone booth. There is a dedicated canteen or mess which provides good food. A robust security system in the hostel makes it safe and secure for the students.

The hostel fees can be costly for many students. The hostel charges are approximately INR 12,000 per year. Students can opt for various paying guest options available in the city. They are affordable and can be chosen as per the interest.

Commendable Placement

MNNIT, Allahabad, boasts an impressive placement track. Several top companies visit the campus each year to recruit students. Pre-placement training sessions, such as leadership training, soft skills training, and resume-building sessions, are conducted to help increase the students' employability. The placement record is one of the prime reasons students choose Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology. The highest package offered is INR 50 LPA, while the average package is INR 10-12 LPA.

Happening Campus Life

Life at MNNIT is exciting. Many events are conducted throughout the year to keep the students engaged. The annual college fest is one of the most awaited events in the institute. Students can also enrol in various clubs and societies per their interests. The institute has many strict rules and regulations that students must abide by. This also includes the 75% attendance criteria. However, students do not need to adhere to any dress code or uniform. The student crowd is diverse as they are admitted from various corners of the country.

Even with several drawbacks, MNNIT Allahabad's academics remain commendable. With updated and industry-relevant courses, students get the best exposure. Equally fun-filled are the students' campus life and placements. The student's experience can be enhanced efficiently if the administration focuses on improving many infrastructural facilities.
