MSBU, formerly known as Birji University, is a state university in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Maharaja Surajmal Brij University was established in 2012 with the announcement made by the Honorable Chief Minister in the budget session. The university started functioning through Brij University, Bharatpur Act, 2012. MSBU offers admission to UG, PG and doctorate programs through its eight departments.

Maharaja Surajmal Brij University is recognized by University Grants Commission(UGC). The university has affiliation with colleges from two districts of Rajasthan- Bharatpur and Dholpur. Maharani Shri Jaya College is one of their notable affiliated institutions. Admission to MSBU is made online on the official website and it is on merit-basis.
