With unrivalled sports facilities and distinguished alumni, Jain University Bangalore has carved its name among India's top universities. But how efficient is it in catering to the demands of the market?

Rarely do people come across an educational institution where sport is given cardinal importance. It seems Jain University Bangalore has been championing this very component. Sports enthusiasts nationwide look towards the institution to fuse their sports and academic requirements.

However, it appears that Jain University has missed the bus for its overall college infrastructure compared to its world-class sports facilities. The general college facilities are just enough to cater to the basic requirements of the students. Not that the students can be heard lamenting about it, but surely they pine for better infrastructures.

Jain University, Bangalore, hosts a single campus spread across 300 acres. The university is located inside the central city area, making it convenient for the students for easy accessibility for their daily needs.

Even though there is considerable help from Jain University’s administration and faculties alike in securing an internship, they lack the dedicated enthusiasm for it. If the students’ feedback is to be believed, only when they approach them individually are they helped.

They have highly knowledgeable faculty members with hands-on experience in teaching and industries. The staff are highly supportive and friendly professionals. Most students at Jain University go for IT programs like BCA and MCA, as the coaching and facility are good.

Unmatched Sports Facilities

It is beyond question that Jain University’s sports facilities are unmatched by any college. Hardly one may encounter any college in India with such multifaceted sports facilities. • Sprintdoor: It is an indoor stadium of 80,000 square feet. It consists of squash, basketball, and badminton courts, a table tennis hall, a billiard and snooker table, a bowling alley, a cardio fitness centre, gym, and aerobic centre. • The Aqua: It consists of an 8-lane 25 meter short course swimming pool and a 10-lane 50 meter competition pool, including a Water Polo facility.

How Efficient are the College Infrastructures at Jain University?

Jain University believes in excelling at providing quality education, research, and entrepreneurship. As much as this holds true, the college infrastructure seems to contradict it. However, it would also be wrong to say that the general college facilities are dire. Perhaps, the university has set the bar high in sports facilities so much that one can only contemplate the current state of affairs. As stated earlier, one may not hear the students vehemently complain about the same. However, they could be kept on track with the sports facilities.

The students at the campus enjoy a well-curated, digitized library. They have spacious classrooms with good Wi-Fi browsing speed, well-equipped laboratories, projectors, and playgrounds.

One of the everyday complaints from the students is that the administration delays in announcing the official dates for any events. Be it the upcoming semester exam dates, or the holidays, the students have to wait for several days at a stretch for confirmation. This is especially painful for international students or students who come from various parts of the country.

With students coming in internationally and across the country, Jain University has comfortable hostel facilities. The hostels are well equipped with basic facilities and amenities. There is a dedicated mess in the hostels, which provide nutritious food at all times.

High Placement Records

At the end of the day, placements are the crux of the academic journey. Jain University conducts training sessions called Campus Recruitment Leadership Training Program before the placements to bridge the gap between practical applications and theoretical knowledge. It is organized by the  Student Career Advisory and Placement Support team.

Some of the activities planned in Campus Recruitment Leadership Training Program are- interviews, guest lectures, alumni interactions, personality development, and aptitude tests. Based on the individual requirements, some look for off-campus placement and others for on-campus placement. Almost 75% of students get placed in top-tier companies.

It's pretty apparent that the university does not have a shortage of recruiters coming to hire. However, apart from the few selects who bag the highest packages, the average salary package offered to the students is not commendable.

Since then, several arrests have been made. It had created an uproar among the political leaders of Karnataka as well. One of the influential party leaders of Karnataka had demanded to revoke the licence of Jain University. The Karnataka’s Minister for Higher and Technical Education, C.N. Ashwath Narayan, has vowed to take strict actions and asked the university and the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education to submit a detailed report of the incident.

A Bit Heavy on the Student’s Pocket

Overall, Jain University falls on the better side of the student’s preferences. They do not hesitate to recommend the college to the coming students. However, when weighed in, the fees for the programs are a bit expensive compared to college facilities. However, good, there is no placement assurance.

Spending a considerable amount of money and at the same time not being placed in any company is one of the significant drawbacks. The top companies look for high percentage marks from the students. The IT students got placed in top companies compared to non-IT students.

Another distinguishing factor of the university is the scholarships. There are two categories in which the scholarships are provided, and these are sports and academics. The JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Scholarship Committee (JUSC) decides the scholarships. The Medha scholarship is awarded to first-year students based on academics. The Ekalavaya scholarship is awarded based on sports.
