Institute of Management Education, Pune was established in 1989, has some distinct features. This Management Institute is a constituent unit of the well known Adarsha Shikshan Mandali which had made a unique contribution in the field of education by establishing Institutions from kindergarten to collegiate education. The Adarsha Shikshan Mandali was registered. IME has, over the past nineteen years, adapted itself to changing needs of the business world without compromising on its philosophical stance.
IME believes in self-study and hard work and not in spoon-feeding. IME also motivates students to start their own enterprises, if possible. The Masters Programme of the IME has been appreciated by the business and industrial houses for the innovative experiments. IME has made so far and they have provided wonderful job opportunities to the deserving students.
The students possess many different characteristics and join the programmes with different objectives. There is no typical management student, in the sense that all of them do not have the same objective for undergoing the programmes. Accordingly there are no absolute admission standards. The only requirement is excellent managerial potential and motivation to complete the course.
The Institute of Management Education, a constituent unit of seventy years old Adarsha Shikshan Mandali, was established 26 years back in 1989.
The Founder Chairman and the Founder Director of the Institute Dr. P. C. Shejwalkar, who is also the President of Adarsha Shikshan Mandali, is the Senior Most Educationist in Commerce and Management and is still working at the age of 86, as Director. As many as Eighty seven Ph.D. students have secured Ph. D. Degree under his guidance.
Dr. Shejwalkar is one of the founding fathers in Management Education. He was the First one to start MBA course in the University Department in 1971 and establish an independent full fledged Institute in 1974. After 3 years, he was advised by eminent Industrialists, particularly Shri. S. L. Kirloskar, who was President of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, to de-link his courses from the University. He has been running autonomous courses since 1977.
It should be noted that these courses are recognised by some of the foreign universities also. As many as around 70 IME students have secured good jobs in foreign countries also.
The MBA offered by the institute is recognized by foreign establishments as well. Many alumni of the college are working in top-notch companies and more than 70 are working in international concerns.

Its constant endeavour in preparing its in the field of technology has been an epitome of success over a period of time.
