About Indian National Portage Association, Chandigarh

Indian National Portage Association (INPA) is a Non-Profit, Professional, Educational, Non-Government, Voluntary Organization with its Headquarters at Chandigarh, India. It is an affiliate of International Portage Association, USA. (IPA consists of a focused group of professionals, parents & individuals who are interested in research, service and policies related to children with or at risk of a disability and their families. IPA is active in more than 130 countries of the world).

Indian National Portage Association is registered under Societies Registration Act 1860, No.2282 and is also FCRA Registered and Tax exempted.

INPA is an action oriented, research services based Organization, dedicated to the welfare children 'at-risk' of developmental delays / learning disabilities / mental retardation and welfare of the women / families.

INPA has Zonal Representatives all over the country, to promote the Portage movement and offer Portage services as well as Early Intervention Services to the children with special needs. However, for the past few years, INPA is spreading its wings for many more activities including starting new courses, recognized by international and / or national bodies.

INPA is affiliated with International Portage Association (IPA), USA. International Portage Association is active in more than 90 countries of the world. IPA consists of a focussed group of professionals, parents & individuals who are interested in research, service and policies related to children with or at risk of a disability and their families.

International Portage Association

The International Portage Association is founded upon the Portage Model of Early ntervention which was developed in the U.S. in 1969, and has been replicated and introduced to more than 130 countries around the world.

Mission of International Portage Association

The IPA mission is to unite parents and professionals in promoting and developing quality services which focus on young children and their families. It is founded with the belief that families are the primary interventionists for their young children and that professionals must work in partnership with families to maximize the growth and development of young children.

IPA Executive Board

IPA Executive Board is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the operations of the International Portage Association and in maintaining the improvement, modifications and integrity of the Portage System.

  1. INCLUSION OF MULTINATIONAL BOARD MEMBERS –There are different levels of board members, international, national, executive and zonal. This means that the institution has international backing and recognition.
  2. CLOSE TIE-UPS WITH VARIOUS OTHER AGENCIES-INPA has close tie-ups with various other NGOs working in the similar area. It works closely with Special Education Resource Center for training programs among other activities.
  3. GLORIOUS EXPERIENCE- The president of INPA was the first to adopt the portage and bring it to India. This association has an Experience of three and a half decade in this field.
