Garhwal Vikas Kendra (GVK) is a non Governmental development organisation sustainable development of the remote Uttarakhand and its vulnerable and marginalised communities, as well as for the conservation of its sensitive eco-system. Grassroots projects are being implemented in the remote area of District Tehri, Uttarkashi and Almora of uttarakhand. Our work is delivered through multiple field offices located in three districts and a central coordination office in Sumankyari of District Tehri.
It was Mr. Parendra Saklani, who took the initiative to register Garhwal Vikas Kendra under the society act, to continue the organization in 1988 and thus gave a formal shape to the centre. Much relief came to him only in 1994, when Indo-German Social Service Society (IGSSS) New Delhi, gave him a fellowship to continue his work as a social activist in Garhwal.
