It is regarded as one of the premier institutes in the country in terms of academics, with an amazing coding culture on the campus. The top coders in the institute are offered placements in reputed companies. However, B.Tech students are provided with more placement opportunities than postgraduates. Due to its high intake of students every year for different courses, the competition level when it comes to placement is much higher than the other institutes.

Well Designed Programs

DAIICT offers several programs in the field of Information and Communication Technology at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The institute is the most popular for its Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses as they offer different specializations, and the placement rate is much higher than that of the M.Tech and M.Sc programs.

The undergraduate degree programs offered by Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology are B.Tech programs for a duration of 4 years with a total of 8 semesters. The main specializations available for the B.Tech courses include Information & Communication Technology (ICT), ICT with a Minor in Computational Science, Mathematics & Computing (MnC), and Electronics & VLSI Design (EVD).

The institute offers the following 6 programs at the postgraduate level. The Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), and Master of Design (M.Des) programs offered by DAIICT are for 2 years.

Among the Master’s programs mentioned above, the institute offers the 2-year M.Tech course in Electronics and Communication in collaboration with C. R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (C R Rao AIMSCS), University of Hyderabad.

The institute offers two types of research programs in Information and Communication Technology, namely regular and rolling PhD programs. Students who join the institute for regular PhD programs have a chance to seek financial assistance by joining as Teaching Assistants.

Almost the entire team of faculties at the institute are highly educated and are Ph.D. holders in their respective fields from reputed institutes around the world. The teachers have the freedom to choose their own method of teaching.

Hence, there are exceptionally educated professors in the institute who are experts in their fields, but some of them cannot teach a class of students properly.

Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology has an impressive infrastructure, with modern facilities that enhance the learning and college experience of its students. The overall ambience at the institute is serene and peaceful, with all the necessities available in the vicinity of the campus. The institute has Wi-Fi networks provided throughout the campus as well.

The library at the institute, the Resource Centre, has a vast collection of resources that can support the students in learning academic concepts as well as in other subjects. The centre is open till 9 PM on regular days and is available till midnight during the examination time. Students also have access to an internet connection to research topics online. 

With a well-furnished seating arrangement, the library can accommodate around 300 students at a time. The collections of online and offline materials available at the resource centre comprise books/e-books, e-journals, audio-visual materials, theses, and numerous databases.

Dedicated spaces are provided in the reading areas for the students to browse different electronic resources. Language learning is also available at the resource centre. The centre is collaborated with the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) and the National Library of India (NDLI) as well.

The institute has well-equipped laboratories with modern technology and software. Students belonging to each department are provided with updated facilities that enable them to have a quality practical learning experience. The important labs included in the DAIICT infrastructure are as follows.

Hostel Facilities

All the students of B.Tech programs must be staying at the hostels provided within the campus. Two hostels are available, one each for boys and girls. The rooms are well-furnished with all the necessary furniture and amenities available. The institute also provides internet connection in the hostels to make it easy for the students to use their computers. 

The hostel fees are nominal, with essentials like hot water, laundry services and recreation facilities included. There are 195 seats available for female students and 900 beds for male students in the hostels.

The rooms are shared with other students as there are no single rooms available. The hostel inmates are served timely meals at the clean dining area as well. The hostel premises has tight security and provides a safe environment to live.

Cafeteria

The campus infrastructure comprises 7 different food courts located at different parts of the campus that serve a wide range of multi-cuisine food from all parts of the country. Two separate food courts are available where South Indian food is specifically served, which includes special breakfast, snacks, fruits, juices and pastries. The institute has partnered with Amul to avail of quality dairy products as well.

The institute is famous for its coding culture. Hence, students interested in programming and coding are encouraged to indulge in the related activities. They are provided with the latest software to improve their knowledge as well.

Numerous clubs and committees are active in the institute that conduct exciting events, such as cultural fests and technical symposiums on the campus. There are clubs for students interested in technical and non-technical activities, like music, dance, debate, press, dance, and so on.

Students have the liberty to wear whatever they desire, as there is no specific uniform or dress code set by the institute. They can wear casual clothes with no restrictions imposed on them.

Nominal Fee Structure

The tuition fees for the courses offered by the institute are reasonable compared to the other universities in the same field. The average fees for B.Tech and M.Tech courses are INR 6,30,200, and INR 1,22,000, respectively. For the other programs, such as M.Sc, M.Des and PhD courses, the tuition fees range from INR 60,000 to INR 1,31,000.

Disparity in Placement Opportunities

The institute has great placement opportunities available for students who are pursuing B.Tech and M.Sc programs. However, there is a lack of opportunities for those who are graduating from M.Tech programs, irrespective of their specialization. As per various online reviews, students who are great at coding and perform well in the interviews are offered handsome packages by the recruiting companies. 

Additionally, the institute offers summer internships for its students, which helps them have industrial exposure as well as beneficial for the placement drives. The active alumni committee of the institute also helps the students to join reputed companies. As per the previous year’s reports, the average salary package offered to the institute graduates was INR 17 LPA, with the highest being INR 30 LPA.
