Bholanath College, Dhubri, is one of the premier Institutions of Higher Learning in Western Assam. It was with the initiative of LATE ZAHIRUL HOQUE, the then district magistrate (Deputy Commissioner) of the erstwhile Goalpara District accompanied by the pioneering and untiring efforts of some dedicated and learned personalities of Dhubri, specially of Lt. R.K.Bose backed by the financial assistance of ZAMINDER FAMILY of the Lakhipur estate that the college came to be formally inaugurated on the 16th August, 1946. Formerly it was affiliated to the Calcutta University. Later on it became one of the affiliated colleges of Gauhati University when the later come into being in 1948.
The College which started functioning from the present D.I. of School office was shifted to its present campus at Ward No.15 of Dhubri Town in 1960-61.The present campus is spread over a little more than 52 Bighas of land.
Sincere efforts are on for beautification of college campus with flower gardens. At present four flower gardens and one botanical garden contribute to the scenic beauty of the college campus.
The college has infrastrucal facilities for all departments with facilities of well equipped library & reading room, computer centre and internet connectivity.
Students are admitted on the basis of merit. Reservations are maintained as per government guidelines. Latest Office Memorandum of Govt. of Assam dated the 5th June, 2014 on Uniform Policy of Admission of the students into the colleges in different streams of the admission is strictly followed.

Shew Narain Tantia Library, B. N. College, Dhubri (1946) was named after the Shew Narain Tantia Esqr., a business man of Dhubri Town. The then College Management Committee received a letter dated 28.04.1945 where in Shew Narain Tantia expressed his inclination to donate a sum of Rs. 17,000/- (Rupees seventeen thousand) only for the college library for purchasing of books etc. In the executive committee meeting dated 20th May, 1945, the terms and condition of the aforesaid letter were accepted and thus “
Career Counselling and Guidance Cell :-
The college has a career Counselling and Guidance Cell. Students are given counselling from time to time by different experts. At present, Dr. P. K. Misra is in-charge of the cell.
Students studying in the college may avail State Merit Scholarship, National Merit Scholarship and scholarship for the students belonging to backward communities. Besides these, there is a Student Aid Fund in the college to provide financial assistance to students coming from economically weaker section of the society.
