About B.H.B College, [BHBC] Sarupeta

Bhawanipur Hastinapur Bijni (B.H.B.) College (affiliated to Gauhati University) was established on the 1st day of July 1971, as an institution of higher education at Sarupeta, the central place of the vast area comprising 3 Mouzas – Bhawanipur, Hastinapur and Bijni under Bajali sub-division of Barpeta District. Beginning with a small batch of students in the Sarupeta High School Campus, it subsequently moved to its present site in 1976. The untiring efforts of the local people, the members of both the teaching and non-teaching staff, and the Governing Body contributed a lot to the growth and development of the college. Ultimately, it was brought under the deficit grant-in-aid system by the Govt. of Assam in 1983. The college has also received recognition by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956. The college at present imparts education to a large number of students up to Degree major level under the guidance of experienced and dedicated teachers. It is committed to the task of meeting the challenges in higher education in the fast changing society of the present century and contributing significantly to the knowledge-based economy of the day. Giving its students the ambience to promote their potentialities and foster better and more innovative ideas. The pursuit of excellence in both academic and co-curricular fields and surging ahead to meet the challenges of the new millennium.

Aims and Objectives :

The College aims at -

  1. Imparting higher education to the students.
  2. Providing Remedial Teaching to the SC, ST, OBC and Minority students and students belonging to socially and economically backward classes.
  3. Helping the students to face the challenges of life through various extension education activities.
  4. Providing the students with Vocational Training in order to enable them to acquire knowledge and skills for working as self-employed persons.

Admission Procedure :-

(a) Application for admission into the college should be made in the prescribed application form issued by the college office on payment of Rs. 100.00.
(b) Students are selected for admission into the college on the basis of their academic record.
(c) Candidates are required to produce original copies of the following documents at the time of admission
  Marks sheet of the last qualifying examination.
  Age Certificate.
  Character Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended.
  Caste Certificate, wherever necessary.

Attested copies of these documents must be submitted at the time of admission.

A student must attend at least 75% of the classes held in the college, failing which he/she may not be allowed to appear at the H.S. 1st Year Annual / H.S. Final / & Semester Examinations.
