The college has students' aid societies such as Nepali associations and Bodo Literary Society. Every year the college week is held for providing competition for sports, cultural activities. The college life is engaged mainly around the mainstreams of respective courses.
There is only boys' hostel at the college. The college provides a library, a computer lab, canteen, gym to the students. The food in the canteen is cheaper which ranges from Rs 5 to 100.
The class timing for 1st and 2nd year of BA courses consist from 9 am to 4.30 P.M. The 3rd year timings are fixed as per the courses are concerned. The quality of teachings is good in English major. Teachers are always ready to help with the doubts. My overall experience is good.
The fees for BA courses is Rs12,000(INR) per year. The internships for students are provided for various courses.
The Department of English provides opportunities for students to develop their personality. Frequent seminars are held to obtain this result. Recently, we had an Inter-College seminar conducted by Department of English. Last year, we had a workshop on a drama where a professor of drama from America, showed her energy to make students learn the basics of drama and at last students of around 15 in numbers, performed a play at the college auditorium.
B Borooah College completes its admission procedure on the month of June but the entrance for the respective subjects are held aftermath. The eligibility criteria for BA in English is 10+2 or High School Senior Secondary exam by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any equivalent exam conducted by any State Board or Equivalent. He/She should have secured a minimum 50% Aggregate with English as a subject. All SC/ST candidates have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate. The admission is conducted in terms of morning and afternoon shifts. The estimated cut off for general go till 77%, on the other hand, 75% for reserved categories. The entrance that I appeared for was conducted in August with the availability of 50 seats for English major. Almost 110 students applied for the entrance.
The eligibility criteria for my course B.Sc is to pass class 12 with minimum 81% combining the 5 subjects. Later to get the desired subject in B.Sc hons, there's an entrance test which is to passed to get a hons in particular subject. If not passed, the student will have to continue a general degree in B. Sc without any major subject.
Minimum 75% in 12th board exam. The entrance exam is conducted by the respective department for major subjects.
