The Assam homoeopathic Medical College, the instituiton, first of it's kind in the state of Assam, was established in the year 1968 by the untiring effort of a body of dedicated Homeopaths and lovers of Homoeopathy from different corners of Assam with a mission to promote homoeopathic education and teaching, to train groups of young energrtic deligent people in homoeopathic system of medicine as also to make blissful curative homoeopathic treatment available to the sick humanity. The dream of Homoeopaths of this North-Eastern part of India was first ever materialised and the institution began functioning on the 15th of August 1968 in the Haiborgaon Girl's High School, Haiborgaon, Nagaon (Assam) and later on was shifted to the present site (Laxminagar, Haiborgaon, Nagaon, Assam) after a piece of land had been donated by Sjt. Meghraj Agarwalla a renowned businessman of Haiborgaon, Nagaon(Assam) and foundation stone of the present building was laid on the 29th of Nov 1972 by Dr. Jogesh Mahanta the then Principal of Guwahati Medical College. The college has the honour of being the first homoeopathic teaching institution in Assam to have been recognised by the Board of homoeopathic system of Medicine(Assam), in the year 1978. Hereafter, on the first day of July 1988 the college has been undertaken by the Director of Medical Education, Planning & Research (Assam). Dr A.C. Patowary on behalf of the Government of Assam.

Since inception in the year 1968 the college was imparting training to student of homoeopathic Diploma course (DHMS) and from 2000 Degree course (BHMS) in homoeopathic Medicine has been introduced under " Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences " since 2011.

Admission :-


(A) Educational Qualification

The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Science 10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination from a recognised Board/Council/University, in respect of candidate belonging to General Category and 40% marks in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC/Category of Assam.

(B) Age

Not below 17 years and above 24 years. The upper age limit is relaxable by three years in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC/Category of Assam.

(C) The Candidate must be a Permanent Resident of Assam

(D) Reservation of Seats

There shall be reservation seats for SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC/Physically Handicapped/Char area/TGL/Ex-TGL, Freedom Fighters, Martyrs and Ex-Serviceman Category from the total available seats as per Government Rules.


A candidate who desires to be considered under the reserved category shall have to furnish certificates of the concerned category from the competent authority.


A candidate applying under Physically Handicapped Category have to produce identity certificate from the State Level Medical Board / District Level Medical Board as constituted in pursuance of social Welfare Department (Notification No: SWD181/96/75, Dated 21.06.1990) The Medical Board will have to follow the principles and instructions for issuance to identity certificates to physically handicapped persons are issued by The Social Welfare Department Notification No. O.M.. NO.SWD 181/96/65, DATED 31.03.1999.


In case of candidates applying for admission under Char Area Category, the candidate must produce the certificate from the Competent Authority i.e, Char Area Development Authority of Assam. Candidates must be from Socially, Economically and Educationally backward family and the names of his/ her parents must be enrolled in the voter list of their respective Char Village to be counter signed by The Deputy Commissioner / Sub Divisional Officer of the concerned District/Sub Division.


The selection will be strictly on the merit basis and in accordance with the reservation as applicable.
