About Akola Law College, Akola

Akola Education Society, which conducts Akola Law College, was established on the auspicious day of Tilak Jayanti on 23rd July 1927. The Society is a pioneering educational trust formed and established by members from the teaching community with the objective of propagating education in the region.

The Society started its educational activities with the setting up of New English High School in the year 1927 with student strength of 20. During the span of 84 years, the Society has spread its activities and at present it has ten educational institutions under its patronage, providing education from the grass root level i.e. play group to the post-graduate level. These educational institutions are providing educational facilities to nearly 5,000 students at Akola, Murtizapur and Kharap of western Vidarbha region. The educational institutions run by the Society have earned a high reputation in the region by turning out scholarly students of high caliber and merit, who are rendering valuable services to the nation in various fields of activity and contributing towards country’s growth.

The Society celebrated its Platinum Jubilee in the year 2002. To commemorate the occasion, Society resolved to enter the field of higher education by setting up a five-year law degree course college at Akola. At that time, there was no such college in Akola city. As a result, Akola Law College was established in the year 2004-’05. The Govt. of Maharashtra granted permission to the Society to start a five-year law degree course college on permanent no-grant basis vide its letter No. NGC 2004/(1/04)/MS-4, dated 15th July 2004. The college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, which granted its first affiliation vide its letter No. AU/8/C-2274/2004, dated 01st September 2004. The Bar Council of India, New Delhi granted approval of affiliation to the college vide its letter No. BCI:D:776/2005 (LE:Mtg) (53-Maharashtra-T), dated 25th April 2005. The college started its regular functioning by admitting students from the academic year 2005-2006. The college introduced LL.M. course in five groups from the academic year 2009 – 2010

Eligibility :

The college imparts law education for UG and PG level. Both UG and PG courses are as per Semester Pattern.

LL. B. (Five year Integrated Degree Course After XII): A student must have passed 10+2 or 11+1 examination in any of the stream from any recognized Board/University recognized or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with 45% marks in the aggregate in case of general category and 40% in case of S.C. and S.T category. Students obtaining less than 45% but not less than 40% marks will be eligible, if they pass the pre-law examination conducted by SGB Amravati University with a minimum of 50% marks.

  • Auditorium : The college has the auditorium and conference hall with a seating capacity of 300 persons.
