Factors Determining TNEA Cutoff 2025
Several factors play an important role in determining the TNEA cutoff 2025, including the following:
- Candidates' marks and ranks secured across various boards.
- Candidates' categories
- Candidates' preferences
- Seat availability at the participating institutes
- Previous year cutoff trends of the colleges
- The number of applicants
- Difficulty level of the qualifying examination (Class 12)
Types of TNEA Cutoffs in 2025
Typically, the TNEA cutoff is released in two formats. The following are the two types of TNEA cutoff 2025:
TNEA Cutoff Ranks: The cutoff ranks refer to the last rank of admission for a particular course, college or category. Candidates falling within this range can gain admission to their desired institute and course.
TNEA Cutoff Marks: The cutoff marks are the last aggregate score for which the seats are allotted at a particular institute. Candidates may gain admission if their score matches or exceeds the given marks.

How to Calculate TNEA Cutoff Marks 2025?
Surpassing the TNEA minimum marks or cutoff is required to gain admission to the TNEA participating institutes. The admission process is based on the scores of 10+2 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
However, the raw scores of the candidates are normalised to ensure a fair allocation of ranks. The final scores are calculated out of 200 marks. Here's how the TNEA scores are calculated:
TNEA score (out of 200) = Mathematics + (Marks in Physics/2) + (Marks in Chemistry/2)
For example, if a student secured 95 in Physics, 98 in Mathematics and 88 in Chemistry, each out of 100, as per the normalisation process:
98 + (95/2) + (88/2) = 189.5 out of 200.
