The MAT selection process 2025 for score-accepting institutes normally comprises a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI). However, some B Schools may have special criteria for selecting candidates. 

More than 800 business schools in India accept MAT scores for MBA/PGDM admission. AIMA offers the opportunity to apply to five MBA institutions via MAT registration. When filling out the MAT 2025 application form, candidates can select up to five colleges of their choice. AIMA provides candidates' MAT scores directly to those five colleges for the admission shortlisting procedure. The list of MAT participating institutes is available on the MAT 2025 application form.

The MAT exam is administered in multiple sessions in February, May, September, and December. You can take the exam whenever it is convenient for you, within the admission cycle of your desired college.

MAT 2025 MBA Admission Process

MBA admission through MAT involves three steps:

1. Registering for the MAT exam and choosing five MAT participating colleges as a preference
2. Taking the MAT exam (February, May, August, or December)
3. Participating in the GD/PI/WAT round of the institutes chosen as preferences on the application form

You should be aware that, beyond providing scores to the five MBA universities you have chosen, AIMA has no involvement in admissions. The institutes hold admission rounds and select candidates based on their own characteristics and selection criteria.

MAT 2025 Selection Process: What to Expect in WAT, GD, and PI

MAT 2025 qualifying candidates who are shortlisted for the personality assessment round will receive call letters to their registered email addresses. They will be required to participate in institute-specific selection rounds. The call letter will comprise the following details:

• Last date to complete registration
• Date, time, and location of WAT/GD/PI
• Documents to carry
• Fees amount to carry

MAT Selection Process 2025 Key Points

Institutes giving admission based on MAT results shortlist the candidates invited for MBA admission, meeting the MAT cut off for the course.

• Candidates wishing to apply to more than 5 MAT colleges will have to apply to all the institutes separately. 
• The participating colleges shortlist students on the basis of the parameters set by their admission committees. 
• The MAT selection process consists of Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT) conducted separately by colleges.
• AIMA does not take part in the selection of candidates for MBA admissions through MAT.
• The candidate may not receive a call from the place of his choice in case he does not meet the MAT cut-off or category-wise criteria set by that college.
