Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) Celebrates Its Fifth Convocation Ceremony

The Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) hosted its fifth Convocation ceremony on January 20th, 2024, at the Sirifort Auditorium in New Delhi. To celebrate this milestone, several dignitaries of IIAD attended the ceremony, including Mr. Ajit Chadha (Chairperson), Dr. Jitin Chadha (Founder & CEO), and Prof. Usha Patel (Director-Academics). Other attendees included Ms. Mandy Ure, Dean & Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sustainability & Inclusion at Kingston University, as well as course leaders and professors.

IIAD X Pune Design Festival

IIAD joined forces with the ADI Design Education Festival, a 17th Pune Design Festival component. Shaaz Ahmed, Associate Professor, Communication Design, led the immersive "Material in Motion" workshop. His dynamic session offered young designers an introductory platform to learn animation through unconventional mediums and lively motion techniques. 

Serendipity Arts Festival x IIAD

IIAD collaborates with Serendipity Arts Festival 2023 

IIAD partnered with The Locavore team and Goa Livelihoods Forum (GLF) to curate a transformative design experience for 'The Village' within the Art Park during the 8th edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival in December 2023.  Leveraging branding systems and communication Design students designed logos, postcards, menus, packaging labels, and maps to illuminate the lesser-known cultural intricacies of the rural Goan communities.

IIAD student Rashika Lungani wins the Elle Decor Student Contest

Rashika Lungani (Interior Architecture and Design, Batch 2020-24) recently won the Park Elle Decor Student Contest 2024 in the Interior Design category for her project ‘Re-Imagining Heritage’. Felicitated by Mrudul Pathak (Editor, Elle Decor India) and Sonalika Sahay (Fashion Model & Entrepreneur), she was impressed with her winning design entry centered on the Garden Pavilion.

IIAD Celebrates 20 Years of Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust with Installation Design

IIAD students of all disciplines collaborated to design installations commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Ishara International Puppet Theatre Festival. Eleven of these installations, selected by Padma Shri awardee Dadi Pudumjee (Founder, Ishara Puppet Trust), were showcased at the Indian Habitat Centre.

• Prof. Snehanshu Mukherjee, Course Leader, Interior Architecture & Design (IIAD), was featured in an interview conducted by MGS Architecture magazine. 
• He also co-authored the book titled 'Renewing Design with Communities' along with researcher and designer Anisha Shekhar Mukherji.
• Participating in the panel discussion on "Architecture Education," Prof. Snehanshu Mukherjee contributed to the discourse organized by The Architects Association Agra (AAA) at the Convention Centre, Agra.
• For the 75th edition of the LA Journal India, Prof. Snehanshu authored an article titled "Landscape, Culture, and Space," emphasizing the interconnectedness of culture, economics, and architecture.
• He attended the conference titled ‘From Libraries to Laboratories’: A Conclave for Creating Curriculum and Course Content for Practicing Indic Architecture, hosted by the Department of Heritage Science and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad.
• He also attended the conference titled ‘Architecture of Transitions: Framework & Practices in South Asia’ held at the India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi.
