What are the Disadvantages of ICSE Board?

The full form of the ICSE board is the Indian Certificate for Secondary Education, which focuses on high-quality education and helping the child's overall growth. ICSE provides a balanced curriculum through English as the primary medium of instruction. However, the challenging syllabus and cost of studying are among the major disadvantages of the ICSE board.

Key Disadvantages of the ICSE Board

It is equally important to know about the pros and cons of each education board and select accordingly, as all the systems have some advantages and disadvantages. 

ICSE board follows a different syllabus from other board schools regarding content and volume. It conducts an examination at the end of 10th grade and an Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination towards the end of 12th grade.

In the ICSE board, all subjects have equal importance in the syllabus. The ICSE certification is accepted worldwide. However, some of the disadvantages of the ICSE board are listed below:

1. Challenging Syllabus: The syllabus for an average student will be difficult because ICSE students give thirteen subject exams during the sixth standard, whereas on other boards, there are six subjects exam in the same class.

ICSE promotes learning and better life skills and analytical skills, and it is difficult for students to pursue higher education when it comes to further education.

2. Difficulty to Pursue Conventional Higher Education: It might become difficult due to a lack of leniency in evaluating papers after an ICS Examination.

3. Lesser Availability:  ICSE has very limited schools across the country. Students must enrol in an ICSE-affiliated school to pass the board exams.

4. Cost of Education: ICSE is much more expensive when compared to government-run boards in India.

5. More Focus on the English Language: ICSE focuses on English literature and grammar, which might be difficult for some students who are not interested.
