CPS Course After MBBS: Scope, Salary, Eligibility

The CPS course after MBBS is a specialisation consisting of Diploma, Fellowship and Certificate courses in the medical field. These courses have a duration of 1-3 years. In order to enrol into a CPS course, the candidate must hold an MBBS degree.

CPS offers a postgraduate degree which is acknowledged by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The full form of CPS is College of Physicians and Surgeons Mumbai. This institute was founded in 1913.

The CPS is an autonomous body offering post graduation in medical science. CPS, like the NBE, has been called to be an examining body. The body offers 17 diplomas, 10 fellowships and 2 certificate courses.

Eligibility Criteria for CPS After MBBS

A candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria for admission to the CPS courses. The eligibility criteria for admission to the courses have been shared below.

• In order to get admission to a postgraduate program under the CPS, a candidate must hold an MBBS or equivalent degree that is approved by the MCI or Medical Council of India.
• A candidate who has passed the MCPS exam before 2009, does not have to fulfil the above mentioned criterion.
• Before enrolment into the courses, the candidate must hold a medical registration awarded by either the State Medical Council or the Maharashtra Medical Council.

The process for enrollment into the CPS course after MBBS has been shared below.

• The shortlisted candidate will be able to get admission in the allotted institution when they furnish all the documents and pay the required fees through Demand Draft. The appointment order for the post-holding certificate shall be given to the candidate after the completion of admission joining formality.

• Candidates who have joined will have to withdraw the original documents temporarily. This is done for the verification done by CPS duringthe enrollment process.
