The National Level Moot Court Competition, 2026, was organised by the Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University, in association with the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) from 26 February 2026 to 28 February 2026. The competition brought together some of the most promising law students from across the country for a rigorous and intellectually engaging advocacy experience, with 26 teams representing eminent law schools across India participating enthusiastically.
The final day, 28 February 2026, commenced with the Semi-Final Rounds, where teams demonstrated exceptional research, clarity, and courtroom etiquette. After closely contested rounds, two outstanding teams advanced to the Final Round, which was adjudicated by an eminent panel comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. J. Desai (Retd.), Former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Biren Vaishnav (Retd.), Former Judge of the Gujarat High Court; Ms. Komal Gupta, Chief Innovation Officer at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM); and Dr. Annamma Samuel, DPIIT IPR-Chair Professor.
The judges highly appreciated the quality of advocacy and the depth of understanding displayed by the participants while arguing the moot proposition, which centred on the evolving interface between Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights. The problem raised complex and contemporary questions, challenging students to address doctrinal gaps and policy tensions surrounding the regulation of emerging technologies within existing IP frameworks. The intellectually stimulating rounds reflected the participants’ ability to engage critically with cutting-edge legal issues.
The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Justice Sandeep Mehta, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Justice Sameer Jain, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, marking a distinguished conclusion to the competition. The dignitaries on the dais also included Dr. Narottam Sahoo, Advisor and Member Secretary, Gujarat Council on Science and Technology; Mr. Mitul Shelat, Senior Advocate; Dr. Himanshu Sharma, Founding Director, Karnavati University; and Prof. (Dr.) P. Lakshmi, Dean, Unitedworld School of Law.
The Awards Ceremony celebrated excellence across various categories. The Winners of the competition were D.E.S's Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College (DES SNFLC). The Runner-Up title was secured by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, while the Second Runner-Up position was awarded to Institute of Law, Nirma University. The award for Best Speaker was conferred upon Ms. Katyayini from the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, and the Second Best Speaker award was presented to Ms. Suchi Tyagi from Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU Jabalpur). The Best Memorial award was won by the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, while the Second Best Memorial award was secured by GLS University.
The competition concluded on a highly successful note, celebrating excellence in advocacy and academic rigour. It provided a vibrant platform for budding legal professionals to engage with contemporary legal challenges and sharpen their courtroom skills. The event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven and socially relevant legal education.
