Patna Science College, a constituent unit of Patna University, was established in 1927. Initially, it was opened as the Science Department of Patna University. It began functioning independently from 1928 when its foundation stone was laid by Lord Irwin on 15 November 1928. Since then Patna Science College has been recognized as a Premier Institution of higher learning in the science stream in India. The College is centrally located in Patna, the capital of Bihar, occupying an area of approximately 28.32 acres of land containing separate blocks for different science departments. The college has five hostels that include Faraday House, Cavendish House, Newton House, Ramanujam Bhawan, and C.V. Raman Hostel named after world-famous scientists and mathematician. Besides, there are two playgrounds, gymnasium, and an administrative block, which houses the Principal’s Office, College Office, Main Library and Mathematics, English, and Hindi Departments. This block also has three big lecture-halls and many practice rooms. Patna Science College has twelve well-equipped laboratories, which are located in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, and Zoology Departments. Geology Department has four laboratories while each other department has two laboratories. The main College Library has a rich and varied collection of important books related to Science and Arts. It also has a large study hall. Other than the main library, there are independent libraries in each department, which contain books relevant to the departments.

The College offers B.Sc. Honors in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology. Apart from the usual B.Sc. Honors courses, it also imparts teaching in various Vocational and Professional courses under self-financing scheme that include B.Sc. Honors in Biotechnology, B.Sc. Honors in Computer Applications – popularly known as the BCA course, B.Sc. Honors in Environmental Science. Though primarily a science teaching institute, Patna Science College has always had a full-fledged language teaching unit comprising Hindi and English Departments right since its inception. Each department also has facilities for researching respective subjects. For Admission in Patna Science College, candidates have to apply offline by downloading the application form from the official website. Candidate applying for undergraduate level courses should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with a minimum of 55% marks. Patna Science College UG Admission - Eligibility, Fee and  Admission Criteria

All the candidates should have passed [10+2] exam conducted by the central board or any of its state board equivalents with a minimum of 45% of marks along with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology as mandatory subjects. All the SC/ST candidates will have 5% of marks relaxation on the minimum aggregate. Selection to all the programs is done based on a written aptitude test (PUCET) followed by viva-voce conducted by the college.

The application process for the institution for the course of B.Sc is conventional.

• All the applicants have to fill in the application which is available either on the official website of the institution or at the admission department of the institution.
• All the candidates have to do is fill up all the details asked with a piece of valid information after paying a nominal application form fee.
• Then they have to submit the copies of all the necessary documents required by the institution along with the application form within the stipulated time mentioned.
• Once the candidates register themselves for the admission process through the above-mentioned process, the college will shortlist the selected candidates based on their merit. 
• The candidates can also apply for institutional quota(management quota) in which the institution will allow the unallocated vacant seats by itself.
