Application Process - National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

  • Online seat allocation will be done by JoSAA for National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur admissions 2019

  • Candidates need to wait for further seat allocation rounds if failed.

  • If any confirmation will come then they need to go to the nearby reporting centre within the deadline.

  • To apply for MCA in NIT, candidates can directly go to official website of NIT to get the application form.

  • Candidates need to go for NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET), which is jointly conducted by NITs and through centralised common counselling.

  • Candidates need to appear for GATE to get into M.Tech in NIT.

  • The application process of GATE is fully online and it is available in the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website.

General Requirements for Undergraduate Admissions 2019

Admission Process - National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

  • Candidates will get colleges based on their All India Ranks in JEE Main. To get admission in NIT Jamshedpur, candidates need to score a good rank in JEE Main and apply through JoSAA .

  • Candidates will be able to make their choices online for Institute selection. Select NIT Jamshedpur as the preferred institute from the list of Institutes provided.

  • This is followed by the online seat allocation process by JoSAA.

  • If seat is confirmed in NIT Jamshedpur, then visit the nearest Reporting Centre within the deadline.In case the seat is not confirmed, wait for further seat allotment rounds (if any).

  • After this, report to NIT Jamshedpur for seat confirmation and admission. The verification of the documents would be done at the time of counselling/admission.

Admission Process for MCA

  • Good marks in NIMCET examination will lead the applicants to join NIT for MCA program. The seat distribution is as follows -

    • No seat is available for state quota.

    • For Open catagory candidates, 50% seats are available.

    • 27% seats are only for OBC catagory applicants.

    • 15% and 7.5% seats are available for SC and ST candidates respectively.

Admission Process for M.Sc

  • Candidates need to go for JAM test to get into the Centralized Counselling for admission in the M.Sc program in NIT.

  • If candidates will have a valid JAM score, then only they will be allowed to apply for the program.

  • Admission of the candidates will fully depend on the merit list of the registered candidate in the official website.

  • Candidates with common eligibiliy criteria and a valid scorecard will go to the further steps.

  • Candidates needs to have a graduation marksheet and a degree cirtificate.

  • JAM rankcard is necessary to get into the admission process.

General Requirements for Undergraduate Admissions 2019

  • Date of birth in the Class X or equivalent or any certificate issued by the Government authorities only will be taken as authentic as recorded.

  • For applying UG (B.Tech), candidates need to complete or pursue 12th board exam with atleast five subjects (Language, Physics, Mathematics, Anyone of these subjects- Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or Technical Vocational, Any other subjects).

  • For General and OBC candidates need to score more than 75% and for reserve catagory, students need to score 65%.

Eligibility Criteria for MCA

  • Candidates need to have a degree of Mathematics at the (10 + 2) school level or at the Bachelor's level or BCA with a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years to be eligible.

  • Those candidates who are appearing at the Bachelor's degree Examination and fulfill the above mentioned criteria are also eligible but they will have to furnish the result of the Bachelor's degree examination before a stipulated date.

  • As per Government policy the Institute has the power to grant admission and the score of NIMCET.

  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc

  • Candidates need to have a bachelor's degree to attend JAM.

  • Candidates having general/OBC catagory must have secured above 55% aggregate in Bachelor's degree.

  • For SC/ST candidates need to get atleast 50% in bachelor's.

  • There is no restrictions in the upper age limit.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech

  • Candidates need to have a science background with BE/B.Tech degree with an appropriate branch from an approved institute/university.

  • Maximum age for applying M.Tech is 40 years.

  • Candidates must have minimum 6 CGPA in their graduation degree.
