A lot of software companies do come to the campus including startups. I went back to RNSIT to hire engineers for the startup I worked for. There is definitely a pool of great coders groomed and trained in RNS as it's a part of our department (Computer Science).
Highest package offered by a company was Microsoft @ 16 LPA but be aware that only 1 or 2 (if lucky) students actually get through. Average package was around 5-6 LPA. Very few people were not placed and it was entirely their fault.
Alumni network is great IF you build it yourself since there is no framework provided by the college, but, people from my batch are all over the world.
I haven't stayed in hostel but my friends who stayed said it's mediocre. There are a TON of PGs and flats available though. The canteen food was cheap and good.
The admission process is straightforward. Need to write either KCET or COMEDK, and secure a rank within 10000 to be under consideration. They also have management quota.
The fees for B.Tech at RNS Institute of Technology Bangalore around INR 1.5L per year since I am under the COMED-K quota. No idea about scholarships. No idea about loans either.
Life in college is good. Loads of stuff to do around college too and the rates are great. Pool, badminton, movie theater etc etc :) Also nice road is close by :D
