Placements and Internships
The placement in Thapar in quite good...especially for Computer and Electronics.In terms of placement, Thapar is among the top colleges in our country.Avg salary for computer science is around 9lakhs and 7-8lakhs for ECE and 5-6lakhs for other branches.The highest package offered is INR 38lakhs per annum.The college also has a great Alumni network.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
There are many hostels.The best among them is the Iconic hostel and the J hostel. One can opt for single/double/triple/four seater ac/non ac hostel. The food provided in some hostels like hostel K sucks.Hostel J and Iconic provides excellent food. The Classrooms, Labs, Libraries, dining halls are well equipped.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
For Admission in Btech programs of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, one needs to apply for JEE Mains and the Admission form of Thapar Institute.Admissions are given according to your JEE mains rank. From 2016 onwards, the seats have increased which has resulted in lower cutoffs. According to the present scenario, a rank up to 25-30k in jee mains can get you Computer Science up to the last counseling round.30-50k(outside Punjab) can get you ECE and other branches.Other branches like Electrical, EIC, Civil, Chemical closes around INR 80-90k.
Academics and Faculty
The college life here is amazing. Some of the professors are quite good and helpful. Some of them are boring.
Fees and Scholarships
The college is quite expensive.The annual expense including everything(ie.Hostel and mess) is about INR 4lakhs. There are various scholarships available which are given according to merit or family income.About 15-20% student of each branch study with a scholarship. Loans are also easily provided by the different banks. SBI and PNB give additional benefits(same as the NITs and Bits) in the loan as our college is present in their Scholar list.
Clubs and Associations
There are many societies and clubs.Many workshops and competitions are organized by them. The college life here is amazing.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The Eligibility Criteria vary every year like sometimes it is 96 percentage (PCM) in boards and 96 percentile in Jee Mains only for the CSE Derabassi and higher for the CSE Patiala and same goes with the other branches. the cutoff is little low for other branches but there is a difference between the cutoff of the student of Punjab and students outside of Punjab.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : No particular entrance exam is there , you just have to score good marks close to the cut off from JEE Mains to get into Electrical or civil or chemical engineering, but for computer science, electronics , mechanical you need to score a little bit higher and also you must have a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM in your respective board examination

Placements & Internships : Placement varies from branch to branch like computer science have 100 percent placement starting from 6-25 lacs per annum and for mechanical it is 60 percent starting for INR4-INR8 lacs. Campus is being visited by India's top most companies like amazon, sandisk, D shaw etc every year.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission procedure was through marks in JEE mains and the cutoff for mechanical engineering was 99 marks. The cutoff for computer science was 122 marks
