When it comes to placements, Thapar is mainly famous among students who apply for mechanical and computer branch but the other branches are also at par. For civil, core companies like l&t and gammon to name few do come and the average salary package of all branches combined is about 6 lakh per annum. At last, coming to the alumni network, the seniors are very good and u can have interaction with the alumni of this institute.
There are about 10 hostels besides, some new hostels called as iconic for boys and girls each.Also, each hostel has a TV room, a gym and mess room. Then there is hostel J known as Jannat hostel where u should have a stay at least once. Also, there are many PG's around with rent ranging from INR 4 - 6000 per month and u can get a number of dhabas to eat. Also, hostels and classes are both wifi enabled with some classes being very good but some are not that good owing to the fact that those classes are built in 1956. But for a sportsperson, there are a lot of opportunities as the college has a swimming pool, athletic track, football field, cricket field, tennis basketball &badminton courts, volleyball court and a multipurpose ground also.
For getting admission into THAPAR, you have to give JEE MAIN and the seat is allotted as per your rank. Besides, it has some seats reserved for students under sports quota and also for J&K and NE students having separate cut off for students of Punjab state and rest of India. Typical cut off for the civil branch is usually about 70-80.
When it comes to daily routine, class timings are usually between 8 am - 5 pm but the actual class time varies and u may get free at 1 on some days while at 5 on some days depending on your subjects. Then there are types of classes lectures, tutorials, and practicals. In tutorials, the teachers clear ur doubts from lecture class and it also has attendance criteria of 75%. Teaching is good but your experience mainly depends on the type of teacher u get as some teachers are way very good but some are not that good. And if u play some sports, then u will get ample opportunity to increase your potential and do some really good things
Course fee: the fees u have to pay is roughly around 4 lakh per annum including the hostel fees with slight variation as hostel fees vary from hostel to hostel. Now when it comes to scholarship, there is three type of scholarships: - First is for top 25 students whose marks are more than 95 in +2 on basis of their jee mains rank in which student normally get the scholarship of INR 264000 on maintenance of 8.5 SGPA each sem. - then there is another scholarship for 30 students whose marks are greater than 90 in +2 again on basis of jee rank in which one gets about INR 174000 per annum on maintenance of 8.5 SGPA per sem. - the third one is for top 10% students of each branch in which they get the scholarship of about INR 86000 per annum but they have to get more than 8 CGPA each sem. And if you come from well and good background, then there is no need for loan.
There are a lot of societies for each type of people say for mechanics, movie lovers, social workers, public speakers(Roadmaster), and many many more. When it comes to a festival, then there are thaparlympics every year, urja fest, saturnalia fxn and also many small fxts organized by other societies

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Civil Engineering is a good stream, very good scope in future. Prepare your study from a good college or university because practical work is required must in this stream.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : Firstly to get admission in Thapar University you have to get a good score in JEE MAIN, for computer science, mechanical the cut off is pretty high as compared to streams like civil, electrical, and chemical. Secondly, for admission you have to fill an online form and after that you will have online counseling. For civil this year cut off is about 100 in jee mains for outside Punjab student and 90 for inside Punjab students.
