Placements and Internships

1

  • NO Company approaches for Internship.
  • Neither Placement Cell helps in getting Internship.
  • Since this year, they have made Internship compulsory for Final Year students.
  • Placements are messed up.
  • All companies that appear are either Insurance Companies or BPO.
  • BAJAJ Capital, ICICI Life Insurance, IDBI Insurance, Concentrix are some companies that are a frequent recruiter.
  • Don't even expect a package of 3 Lacs.
  • Although Shyamlal College Faculty & Placement Cell is working hard to get good companies on board. But still far to go.
  • There are frequent Alumni Meetups, but mainly in Commerce Dept.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2

  • Shyamlal College's Infrastructure was worse when we entered college, but in 2017 we have NAAC Inspection. So the Principal is just waiving off money in renovation and upgrading College Infrastructure.
Computer Lab is there, but totally obsolete and not modern.
  • We don't have Auditorium, Gym etc.. There are No Hostels, but
PGs are available, actually lot of PGs available within budget.
  • The Canteen in the college been horrible since last two years.
However the caterer has changed, so no issues in Food taste and quality. It is A little bit expensive compared to other colleges but still pocket-friendly.
  • Wifi is available but it does not work. The library has lots of books in small quantities. Editions ranging from 1960-2017.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The admission procedure in SLC Delhi is as follows:
    • First, fill up the centralized form of Delhi University.
    • Wait for College to release its Cutoff and if you are eligible then fill admission for of College as well.
    • College follows general reservation policy like other colleges of Delhi University.
  • Cutoff starts from 92+ then reaches to 82+ for general Category students.
  • No entrance Exam is required to get admission

Academics and Faculty

3.5

  • Daily Routine Class from 8:30 - 2:30, Sometimes projects are offered. Assignments are strictly imposed by faculty and Vice-Versa followed by students.
  • In my final year of Graduation, I haven't prepared even 1 assignment. Teachers are seriously qualified and give their best.
  • Overall experience is good, i,e, in terms of Education.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • Since it ii affiliated to the University of Delhi,The SLC's fees are very low. The fees For B.Com Hons its approx 10,000 (max) per year.
  • State Govt. scholarships are available only for reserved category students, which generally ranges from 3,000-5,000 (per year).
  • Almost all students who apply for scholarship gets it.
  • No Loans required, fees are too much low.

Clubs and Associations

1

  • This is the worst part. Shyamlal College is well known for its Politics. It holds a prominent place in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Election. Almost every 2nd Year DUSU have one representative from College. Students Politics is the main reason for defamation of College. Things get worse from July-Sept during Election peak period.
  • Although College has a long list of societies:
    • Drama and Music Society: Music and Dance Wing
    • Insignia: The Music Band
    • Cinephoria: SLC Film Club
    • Photography and Fine Arts Society
    • Debating Society
    • Scribble: Society for Creative Writing in English
    • Quibble: The Quiz Society
    • The Dance Society

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria were on the basis of merit list which was issued by University. I haven't taken any entrance exam as my course selection was on the basis of merit only. Cutoffs were different for the different class of people. For reference, For general the cutoff started from 91% in the beginning and ends with 86%.
