  • Alumni network is very good.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

5

  • There are 10-12 hostels are there in Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology.
  • Hostels are good with LAN connections. We have a seprate chair, table, and a cupboard.
  • In the first year there are four students in one room and in a 2nd year there used to be 3 students in each room and from the 3rd year, there is a separate room for each student.
  • Hostel fee is Rs. 53,400 for first-year students.
  • There is one PG in our campus which is for Ph.D. scholars. There is no need stay outside (except one is local) as hostels are very cheaper than outside.
  • Food in college is also good.
  • Classrooms are also fine. There are projectors in each classroom with a sufficient number of benches.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The eligibility criteria to join Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology for my course is that for Indian students they have to give the IIT JEE MAIN and have to get good marks in that. If one wants a better branch in my college then they also have to score good marks in the exam.
  • However, during my admission year Class 12 board marks were also considered but now only JEE mains exam is important.
  • If one wants CSE in my college then he/she must score at least 200 in the JEE. However one can take any branch for that he/she must get minimum 100 marks in jee mains out of 360.
  • For other country students, they have to give an international exam called DASA. This exam is a little bit easier than JEE mains. However if one wants better branch then he/she has to score good marks in that also.

Academics and Faculty

5

  • Daily Routine at Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology is simple as one has to do his/her classes only. In the remaining time, they can do whatever they like.
  • However, classes used to be from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the 1st half and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the 2nd half. There used to be some gaps between the classes.
  • Quality and method of teaching are very good here. This college is also known for its teaching.
  • Overall experience is good.

Fees and Scholarships

4

  • My course fee in Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology is Rs. 1,33,200 per annum for admissions through JEE mains.
  • For DASA/ foreigner students it is US$ 1,766.
  • Scholarships options available for the students are the VNIT Alumni association scholarship but this is 2nd year onward. However, there are other Government scholarships like CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEME OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS which can be applied through NSP portal. Almost all needy students get the scholarship.
  • Also, poor people may need a loan for filling their hostel fee which is about Rs. 60000 this year. One can avail loan from VNIT brach of Canara Bank or SBI. They give the loan to students without any huge collateral.

Clubs and Associations

5

  • There are many clubs in Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology like dramatics club, Halla bol, IV labs, electronics club, etc.
  • Main festivals are axis, aarohi etc.
  • Life in college is exciting.

3.5 Academics

Academics & Faculty : VNIT NAGPUR  premier NITs of India. It had been ranked as the 11th best college in India in terms of academics and excellence. However, the academics are not as excellent as everyone expects them to be. The daily routine varies from year to year. We have a set of six subjects and there may be three or four pracicals per semester. Official class  hours begins at 8:00am and end at 6:00pm in the evening. The students have theory classes of one hour from 8:00am to 1:00pm followed by a lunch of one hour and then practicals from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. These are the official timings. However, this certainly does not mean that they have to follow this timings everyday. The theory subjects have been assigned slots eg. A,B,C etc. There are 10 slots in total and a student can only take a maximum of 6 subjects in one semester. Thus he only has to attend classes for the time slots corresponding to the subjects he has that semester. The exams are also scheduled according to the time slots. There
