Placements and Internships
- I have completed a software training workshop from NIT Rourkela and planning to do an internship this summer.
- Key companies of IT sector and also some reputed companies hire from VSSUT.
- Infosys, delloite, tcs, wipro, accenture, tatasteel, vedanta, hindalco are some of the companies which hire.
- Average annual salary package ranges from Rs. 4lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs.
- Highest package offered was Rs. 11 lakhs by sap labs to cse students.
- VSSUT has a good alumni network, various alumni occupy prestigious posts in a department of govt of Odisha and also in private sector. It is partly due to an effort of alumni that companies are recruiting in vssut despite its remote location.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are around 10 hostels -7 male and 3 female in the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology.
- Hostel fee is Rs. 24,000 per year.
- Self-sustaining students are not provided hostel facility and stay in PG. PG charge more than hostel and food charge is separate whereas hostel charge is inclusive of food.
- Food is provided in hostels, a college has a canteen but only snacks are provided there, meals are provided solely in hostels college which is inclusive of hostel fee.
- Vssut being a 60-year-old college, classrooms are old but have been recently painted and newer buildings are being constructed.
- There is a state of the art library ( largest in Odisha), a central internet facility, auditorium, seminar hall in the campus.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- To get admission into VSSUT(Acronym commonly used for our college), in an undergraduate course you need to appear the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) known has JEE MAIN conducted by CBSE.
- You also need to have obtained more than the pass marks designated by your respective boards. There is a 60-40 weight given to them.
- Admission is on basis of all India rank.
- To get admission in VSSUT you need to be a resident of Odisha. For further details please contact ojee.nic.in.
- Based on ranking and the choices of a branch you have filled you will be allotted a course at a particular institute, there is also a chance of up gradation. You have to report to allotted institute for admission with admission fee.
- Cutoffs for electrical engineering in VSSUT starts at around 25000 UpTo 80000 all India rank.
Academics and Faculty
- The daily routine is from 8 am to 5 pm with breaks in between and a common lunch break from 1 pm to 2:30 pm at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology.
- There are mid-semester exams, lab practicals, and end semester exams.
- Assignment and attendance are also given importance.
- Overall quality of teaching is satisfactory.
- Faculties being new are little inexperienced but knowledgeable, good in clearing doubts, we mainly follow blackboard teaching methods but with e-learning centers coming up teaching methods and techniques quality are expected to change.
- Overall experience in college is good with good peers, moderately supportive seniors and developing infrastructure, the college promises a lot in near future.
Fees and Scholarships
- Annual fee at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology present is Rs. 40,640 in the first year and Rs. 29000.
- From second year onwards. Companies like IMFA and MCL provide a scholarship to financially constrained students.
- Odisha Government also provides yearly scholarships to needy students.
- Various NGO'S also sponsored for scholarships to meritorious students.
- Yes depending upon financial background loans may be needed Since VSSUT is a govt funded institute loan are easily availed through any nationalized bank of India. Syndicate Bank has a separate branch on our college campus.
Clubs and Associations
- There are many clubs in the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology like robotics, dramatics, dance and singing, photography, automobile, quizzing clubs.
- Robotics club is a nationally recognized club having appeared in top rank in many national competitions.
- There is a sports fest- illumina, tech fest-samavesh, cultural fest -vassaunt.
- College life, in general, is quite exciting, there many competitions going on, studies, labs, exams etc.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The aspirants must have completed intermediate/diploma for this course, the admission is done through JEE and OJEE ranks. I have given JEE MAINS exam and got selected for the JEE Mains rank. There are no cutoffs for this course, admission totally depends on ranks

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The student should appear the JEE MAIN entrance to get a chance to be in the counselling and he will get a seat according to his/her rank at the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology. To get selected in a Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology he must have secured at least 75% in Physics, chemistry, or math or he must be in the top 20 percentile of his respective boards. The cut off for my course is likely to be 100000 for a general.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : I joined Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology,Burla,Sambalpur in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Course through Odisha JEE exam.My state rank was 4109(General).But I had my interest in Electrical Engineering.So,I studied hard and secured 9.29 CGPA and got my branch changed to Electrical Engineering.
