Placements and Internships

  • I interned with Idea Celluar and my final offer was with Deloitte Strategy and operations. FMS is called the Marketing campus of India and we have representation from all top marketing firms from the Levers to the PnGs. In fact, all top firms visit the campus for all types of roles. The only roles which FMS lacks are front end Investment banking and trading desk roles from a few top international banks. Also top consults like Mc Kinsey, BCG and Bain also do not visit (but I've heard that McK and BCG now does.)
  • FMS is the oldest campus in India and hence the Alum network is active and thriving and fairly responsive when you reach out to them on LinkedIn. There are Alumni dinners which happen multiple times during the year which give you the perfect opportunity to network as well. Still, more can be done in this regard. The average salary for FMS in 2011 would be around 13-14L and 16L including the joining bonus which is offered by all top firms.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

  • Overall infrastructure is limited to a building and a lawn. Though facilities are decent enough to make do with but much more can be done to improve the infrastructure.
  • One may argue that with this kind of fee structure one is getting more than enough. It is a wi-fi enabled campus and since it is situated in a university setting it is rather easy to use other university infrastructure. Fairly well connected with autos and taxis. People mostly use bikes and cars(those who are Delhiites), but overall connectivity is no issue at all.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • Admission in Faculty of Management Studies is based on your CAT score. It is the sole criteria of shortlisting students.
  • There are no such eligibility criteria though girls are given preference while shortlisting. For the final selection, you've yo undergo an extempore followed by a personal interview round. The combined score of your CAT percentile (85℅), Extempore (5%), PI (10%) is considered for final admission. To have a realistic chance to convert a call in this prestigious B-school, a percentile over 99.3 is warranted.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

  • Classes usually happened over the period of six days in a week with a day's break in between. Day used to start at 9 am and classes would run until 4 pm with few breaks in between. FMS wasn't very rigorous in terms of academics as compared to other top b schools in the country, however, I consider this as a unique strength of the college. A less hectic academic schedule allowed us to pursue our hobbies and various other channels of learning in addition to the classroom lectures. Students used to participate in various national, as well as international business competitions throughout the year and FMS's performance, had always been stellar on those platforms. Students took up live projects with various start-ups from different industries and complemented their classroom learning.
  • Overall a well rounded and balanced learning experience. In terms of faculty, we had some of the best professors in management education in India and most of them were full-time faculty with FMS. However, due to a small number of quality professors and their research commitments, we were always short of teaching faculty. Most of this gap was filled by part-time teachers , whose quality was always questionable.

Fees and Scholarships

2.5

  • FMS fee is one of the lowest in the world for a management degree (based on general perception, not proved by data) and is very much affordable even by low strata income households.
  • Normally one doesn't require any financing or scholarship in this course. There are some scholarships available based on selection criteria such as OP Jindal scholarships etc. In case one wish to avail any loan , I am sure banks would be more than happy to provide funding given FMS's reputation.

Clubs and Associations

3

  • There are multiple professional clubs which the students can opt to join. The most important one is the placement committee which is responsible for placing the students, both for internship and finals. Apart from that, there are the following - - marketing club: responsible for marketing events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - finance club: responsible for finance-related events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - HR club: responsible for HR related events/ activities (guest lectures, etc) - e-cell: entrepreneurship club to associate with startups - media club: responsible for how FMS is projected in the media (social and print) Sports culture is not strong at FMS. One inter-college tournament between the colleges of DU takes place, mostly for football and cricket. Sometimes small intra-FMS tournament like badminton is organized.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Faculty of Management Studies does not have any hostel of it's own, but you can stay in the 2-3 hostels allotted for FMS students by DU. The most notable of them is VKRV Rao hostel which accomodates around 50 FMS students per year. You can get PG/flats at s very cheap rate in adjacent Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Vijay Nagar areas. Average cost for a twin sharing AC PG is around 12K/Month. The B-school has a state of the art canteen which bustles with students from not only FMS, but also from adjacent colleges. It is a testament to the quality of the food that is served there. You can get a decent non-veg meal for Rs.60, whereas a veg meal can cost you as little as Rs.25-30 . The DU funded classrooms are fully air conditioned with projectors installed in each class. The whole college is Wi-Fi enabled along with the hostels. The dining hall in VKRV Rao hostel can a
