Placements and Internships

  • During the placement season every year, various companies visit the campus. The companies that recruit the students vary broadly from IT industries through core sectors. JGEC has an enviable record of securing placement of students of all departments.
  • The students here can apply for training by the end of 2nd year and internships from 3rd year. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College encourages the students by assigning innovative projects as a part of the curriculum.
  • The Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College alumni association is very interactive and help to promote the college.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

  • Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is known for having one of the finest campuses in West Bengal. With the lush green tea garden by the campus wall in the backdrop, and rivers running across the town, one feels rejoiced.
  • There are 4 boys' hostels in the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College campus and 1 girls' hostel. One can stay in PGs if required with reasonable rates.
  • The campus is well connected with internet facilities.

 

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • To get admission in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College(JGEC) the student must write WB JEE entrance exam.
  • A good score in PCM in WB JEE entrance exam will help the student get admission in Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College in any of the six departments viz. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science, and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology.

  • The classes begin at 10:00 AM and continue till 5:00 PM. In between, there will be a break from 1:20 PM to 2:30 PM for lunch. The practical classes are usually held in the second half. One may choose between the library and the canteen when a period is off.

Fees and Scholarships

  • The fees for core departments (EE, ME, CE) of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is Rs.500 per month. For ECE and CSE it is Rs. 1000 per month while for IT,it is Rs.2000 per month.
  • Students can apply for Full Fee Waiver and Half Fee Waiver in each academic session. Besides, the alumni association come up with multiple scholarships every year.

  • The college cultural fest is generally held in the month of March and goes on for a week. Besides that, a 3-day long technical fest, the biggest technical fest of North Bengal is also held around that time.
