Akshit Jain's Review on Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi University, New Delhi

• For internships, one can approach his/her stream HOD. They can very specifically guide you how to get an internship and can sometimes even offer you one. 
• Well most of the students in Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce have never gotten a stipend during an internship, most of those internships are experience based as there is no official internship drive in our college, so my advice don't expect a stipend. Many companies come to our campus via different placement cells offering jobs to students. Some of those companies are Delloite, Airtel, Cognizant, Exide Life Insurance, Oberoi Group, Teach For India, Gandhi Fellowship Program,Lloyd Ventures, SP Jain School of Management, Concentrix, Bajaj Capital,
• Many key companies come to SGGSCC via different placement cells offering jobs to students. Some of those companies are Delloite, Airtel, Cognizant, Exide Life Insurance, Oberoi Group, Teach For India, Gandhi Fellowship Program,Lloyd Ventures, SP Jain School of Management, Concentrix, Bajaj Capital, Xprep, Mahindra ComViva etc. There is a wide variety of profiles offered by the company like Chief Analyst, Sales Mangement, Software Developer, TeleInvestment Services, Business development, Mutual fund advisor etc So one can definitely expect a job after completing their degree.
• Average salary offered by different companies is generally CTC:2.5Lakhs - 3.5Lakhs per annum. In 2014, Airtel took a bunch of students offering a package of CTC:8Lakhs per annum. Recently Exide Life Insurance offered CTC:10lakh per annum. So the highest salary offered per year can be approximated as 8-10 lakhs per annum. Also almost 80-90% of the batch gets placed every year. Most of the students are rejected just bcoz of their aggregate percentage during the college years as they fail to meet the eligibility criteria of the company. So one have to be good and consistent in studies to get a job. Well the companies I listed above are some the largest companies in the world. 
• So judging from that one can say that the alumni network is very strong in the case of placement drives. So students can definitely trust their college alumni for a job.

• SGGSCC's infrastructure is one the best in Delhi University. Recently NAAC i.e. National Assessment and Accreditation Council awarded an 'A' grade to the college. 
• There is no hostel in or near the college. So if you are coming from distinct cities or countries do make your travel and staying arrangements beforehand. 
• There are many PGs and rent houses available near the college. One can easily search the internet or ask fellow students or look in the advertisement section of the newspaper for the same. PGs and rent houses cost is generally from Rs.20000-Rs.25000 per month including Maid services and water and electricity 24/7. Metro route is also available to the college and is the cheapest mode of transport in Delhi. College canteen is fully air conditioned and can easily accommodate 150-200 people at a time. The food here is very economical and cheap but the food itself is not very good.

It contains a lot of oil and can also be unhygienic for some people. Also, there not a very vast variety if food items in the menu.
• Classrooms in the college are very big and spacious. Some of the classrooms contain new benches while other does not. I guess they will also be replaced in the near future.
• The college contains 3 computer labs - one for each department i.e. Computer, Commerce and Economics.
• Your own unique wifi password can also be obtained from the library.
• The college also contains one of the biggest in-house library in the Delhi University and any book needed by a student can be found here.
• There is also a very big auditorium with balcony and capacity of almost 500 people for functions and College fests. The college is also very well known for its Cricket ground. Very big tournaments take place here.
• Apart from this the college also contains a basketball court, a tennis court, a football ground, a volleyball court and a Gurdwara.

• There was no eligibility criteria or entrance tests for getting an admission in Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce for a course.
• Any student no matter what stream he/she had during 12th can take admission for a course.
• The most important aspect of the admission procedure was the 12th Board marks.
• SGGSCC comes in one of the top colleges in Delhi University, its typical cutoff can only be met if you score 95%-100% in your board examinations.
• There are limited number of seats available.
• During my time the seats were full after one cutoff no further cutoffs were carried out by the college. 
• So as it is first come first serve basis do be at the college when the admission procedure starts at the earliest. 
• During the admission procedure, there will be a room in which there will be a team of students and teachers who will check the student's BEST 4 subject marks (i.e. aggregate) which include a language and an analytical subject (most often Mathematics).
• If the student meets the cutoff he/she will be given a token number so that he/she could submit his/her original documents which will include 12th board mark sheet, character certificate from the previous institution, passing certificate from the previous institution and some other documents that can be seen on the College's Website. So that's it! Once all of that is completed you just have to show up on your first day of college. 

• Daily routine in any Delhi University college is almost same. In SGGSCC, the first class is at 8:40 am and the last class can be as late as 4:00 pm. Well, most of the days these time can vary depending on Teacher's availability. 
• Projects are given to students in almost every semester in any one subject and are also checked very thoroughly. Exams are not that difficult. They can easily be cracked down by any student. But do prepare for the internal exams and practicals as they are set by the college teachers and can be difficult sometimes. Assignments are given to students on a weekly basis or after a particular chapter has been completed.
• The quality of teaching for my stream i.e. Computer Science can be judged as Average as most of the teachers are young and inexperienced. But are very helpful and understanding and are ready to help whenever asked. The method of teaching is good as the teacher not only focuses on what will come in the exam but are also always trying to teach the students beyond that which will help them ahead in their life.
• Overall experience in the college is very good. The college is involved in different kind of activities and hackathons and is always trying to keep and preserve the student's interest. Seniors are very helpful and can direct you on college functionalities once approached.

• SGGSCC's yearly fee is one of the highest fees in Delhi University but as compared to other private and engineering colleges its much lower.
• It's approximately Rs. 21000 in the first year. Then Rs. 17000 in the second. If the degree is 3 years then the last year fee is approximately Rs. 21000 as well. But if the degree is 4 years as is mine the 3rd year fee would the same as 2nd year and the 4th year fee will be approx. Rs 21000.
• Yes, scholarships are awarded to those in need and don't have a very strong financial condition. A letter can be addressed to the college's principal stating your family's yearly income and attaching a tax affidavit as proof to get the scholarship.
• Average number of students who get the scholarship are 5-10 per batch. It's a first come first serve basis. So do remember to write to the principal early. Comparing the fees from private colleges I don't think loan is required while paying the fees, but if anyone do requires it there is Punjab National Bank just alongside our college from where the loan can be taken

Virtuoso: College's photography, art and craft society. Ivogue: College Fashion Society etc.

Main festivals in campus are College Annual cultural fest, Tech fests (twice a year), Fashion Competition, Dance competition. Cricket Tournaments etc The general life for any student in Sggscc can be great. 

Almost everything is available in the college that is anything a student can wish for. Environmental is very great. There is greenery around the whole campus.

College faculty in understanding and helpful and one can easily pass its most important aspect of life in Sggscc.
