Placements and Internships

2

  • I personally have done internship from Larsen and Toubro, MMH and was not offered any stipend.
  • Key companies are Maruti Suzuki,Tata Motors, Polaris,Mu Sigma,Infosys,BHEL,BEL,TCS,Sterlite,Alstom,IOCL(Indian oil corporation Limited).
  • Average salary-4.2 lacs Highest sakary-12 lacs.
  • The alumni network of the college is very good. All the alumni are joined by a functional alumni network

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2.5

  • There are 6 hostels,2 for girls and four for boys. The hostel condition is satisfactory.
  • In 1st,2nd and 3rd year there were 4 students accomodated in a single room and in 4th year 1 student per room.Hostel fee is 2000 for 4 years.
  • There is no option such as PGs Food it nearly satisfactory. It costs 20 for breakfast,30 for lunch and dinner and 10 for evening tea and snacks.
  • Classrooms has an old structure, enough sitting arrangements, labs are outdated however steps have been taken for renewal, library also is outdated in floods of 2014.
  • Wifi arrangements are good and will get better within a year.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • You must have passed class 12th and qualified the entrance examination's cutoff IIT-JEE Mains or formally known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination or AIEEE gets you to NIT Srinagar.
  • A score not below 140 in JEE mains for General,115 for OBC and 75 for SC/ST can get you to NIT SRINAGAR. Expected JEE-mains rank below 30,000 for General, below 45,000 for OBC and below 90,000 for SC/ST candidates would be cut off.

Academics and Faculty

2

  • Daily Routine-the classes are for five days a week just as other NITs and classes run from 9 am to 5 pm with lunch of an hour.Being Frank this is an institute where academics are the most important part of the Engineering curriculum and still even this very important aspect is not taken seriously.
  • The course of 1st where is pathetic, where the students of the other colleges learn both C and C++ languages in NIT Srinagar not evn C language is taught to the students with full vigour. Due to the unwanted conditions of the valley it suffers from shutdowns and curfews most of the time and due to its location also much of the academic activities get shattered.
  • The equipments for experiments and laboratory are outdated however in recent years new equipments came in for the recent batches. The overall development of a child-like speaking skills, personality development, PowerPoint presentation techniques are never been introduced anytime.
  • The clubs for the extracurricular activities also are in a pathetic condition though due to student enthusiasm and dedication at least they exist.
  • The method of teaching is average there are two minor exams and one major exam of 20,20 and 50 marks respectively other than that no class tests or weekly assessment tests.
  • Once in a while, few good teachers can offer the students few Power point presentation but mostly the high-tech halls are unavailable for such a scene.
  • Sometimes the examination papers are up to the mark and sometimes it even happen with you that without completing the course you can score the highest marks with the help of previous year question papers. All and all it does not have any extraordinary feature to call it an NIT.
  • The overall experience being at college would be satisfactory only if you'll get a decent placement but that too requires some luck in in fact only luck at times. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful collection campus in the country so you would enjoy the atmosphere, the seasons the snowfall and the beauties of the heaven.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • Course fee differs for students like for students of 2013 it is 21,030,for 2014 batch it is 30,000 but right now if you will get an admission to any NIT it is 3500 per semester.
  • The fee structure is governed by MHRD(Ministry of Human Resource Development).Note-no tution fee for SC/ST candidstes.
  • Mess fess is same 15,000 for all the students Most of the students belonging to Rajasthan ,Bihar,Madhya Pradesh can get scholarship upto 35,000 per year offered by government to any student who is studying in a government college.
  • And NIT,Srinagar is a MHRD governed autonomous college. On an average nearly 100-200 students get the scholarship Loans can be provided very easily by banks most of the students have got loans from Jammu and Kashmir Bank or State bank of India.

Clubs and Associations

1.5

  • Clubs are non-official ie. not started by the college.
  • Few notifiable clubs are Dance club,Drama Club, Robotics Club,AutoCAD club, poetry club,Debate Club There is only one technical festival TECHVAGANZA no cultural or other festivals.
  • Life in college is fine.
  • College is beautifully situated on the banks of the famous dak lake.
  • All the livelihood items would be available inside the campus.
  • There is large playground so outdoor playing facilities are OK.
