Kirti Gandhi's Review on Sardar Bhagwan Singh University

Well i am doing an internship but it is not stipend based as stipend based internships in biotechnology feild are very less and far so I opted orbit biotech in mohali. Well our department doesnot provide any placement process because everyone thinks that no one gives job after bsc biotech to a student so one should go for msc biotech and then get a job. I dnt know about salary.

Campus is distributed in 12.5 acres. 2 hostels are there boys hostel is outside from campus with a 5 minute walk and girls hostel is inside campus at the backside of library.hostel fees is 68000. Pg facility are available and cost would be 4000 per month. As the hosteller students eat in mess during lunch break in college and breakfast and dinner are served at both boys and girls mess. Classrooms are fine and labs also. Library though not that much big but is the best place almost everyone like in college not only because of study but because at bunking class everyone hides there as sittinv in cafeteria during lecture hours is not allowed. Wifi is the worst in our college we live on our cellular data only.

Class timings are from 9 am to 4:30 pm that includes lectures and next half continues with the lab. No we dont get projects here but teachers often within one or two weeks give us assignments on botany and zoology and biotechnology. Chemistry teachers dont give assignments. Exams are held annually in my department of biotechnology which creates a lot of burden for all of my class as well,no tests,no sessionals and no semesters,and because 11 exams we have to give our exams get completed in 1 month. Method of teaching is fine not good because what they taught us in lecture and the notes they provide us have no link with the syllabus which really matters so we cant rely on teachers,we study on our own. Well like DU life is not same here lots of rules,fine procedure and lots of restrictions.For girls living in hostel it is rule to not to out from campus after 5pm,and yes sometime some events make us feel good like our college conducts birth anniversary celebration of our college founder Sardar Gurucharan Singh and the event covers lots of performances and is a three days event and is named as SBS Utsav. National debate competition from 8 years helds in our institute,students from various colleges come here to participate.

My fees was 74000 in first year,72000 on second year and now being the final year my fees is 65000. Scholarships tests are available,i dont know the exact criteria but 70% or above it is applicable for scholarship. I dont know the exact ratio of students getting scholarship. Well only few people apply for loan because fees is in thousand figures only so its better to give fees at a time only inspite oof going for a loan,it just creates burden.
