Revised Guidelines For Evaluation Of Skill Test Scripts

The commission's marking scheme divides the errors in skill tests into two categories: full mistakes and half-mistakes. Certain words can be spelt and written in more than one way. All such spellings and word forms are permissible and will not be considered errors. 'For example, the word 'Honourable' is spelt as Hon'ble, Hon., honourable, and hon. - all of these forms will be considered correct' said the commission. This guideline will apply to Hindi tests as well.
The number of words in the master passage used to calculate the proportion of errors is shown below.
- For 10 minutes, write 800 words at a rate of 80 words per minute.
- 1,000 words in 10 minutes at a rate of 100 words per minute.
- For 7 minutes, I wrote 840 words at a rate of 120 words per minute.
- For 5 minutes, write 600 words at a rate of 120 words per minute.

Full Mistake
- The omission of a word or a figure will be counted as a whole mistake. If a set of words is omitted, the total number of omitted words is calculated.
- If a figure is written correctly, whether in numerals or words, both are acceptable and will not be considered errors. The quantity of deleted words and incorrectly substituted words, on the other hand,
- will be deemed a mistake.
- Every addition of a word, figure, or sign that does not appear in the dictated passage will be regarded as a complete mistake.
- Any word repetition, incomplete words, or abbreviations used for extended words will be viewed as full mistakes.
- Words or sentences written entirely in capital letters will be judged incorrect.
Half Mistake
- Wrong spellings, using singular for plural nouns, and vice versa are all considered half-mistakes.
- Similarly, failing to use a full stop at the end of a sentence or using a period in the wrong place is termed a half-mistake.
- The use of small letters at the beginning of a phrase, as well as the failure to capitalise proper nouns such as a person's, place's, or office's name, will be considered a half-mistake.
